There's a lot in this thread that is stupid and inappropriate. I also agree that there are many here that do take shots at America.

Now, about this gun control thing. The state of California has insane gun laws. It usually takes about a week to get a gun (took my uncle 6 days to get all the paperwork and the background check finished when he bought his newest), we have outlawed a great deal of guns, and yet, we have some of the HIGHEST gun violence rates. So, does controlling the guns stop the problem? No. It's not the type of guns, it's not how hard it is to obtain guns legally. Does something need to be done, yes. Most definitely.

So you take the opportunity of children dying to bash on us. Things like this don't only happen in the US either. But because the US is extremely influential and the fact that every other country is watching what goes on here, things like this get noticed by everyone.

Takes about 4 weeks to get a gun here. Licensed & registered. And you can't just get any gun you want. It's very strict.

If you go out of state to a gun show, you will see the little yellow signs EVERYWHERE that say "NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA" and yet we have some of the worst gun violence rates in the country. However there are other states where it's easier to obtain a gun where the rates are lower.

California also has the highest population of any state by a big margin (around 12 mill more people) The crime stats will of course reflect that.

A ton of it is drug and gang related.
