I'm all for non GMO.
It was put on the ballot here in OR, but the public being the public voted it down. It was razor thin, but in the end big money won out (more was spent on this measure by big food than any other initiative) Now we have modified Salmon ffs. Half the stuff in big retail is falsely labeled as well. Why does this happen? The head of the FDA is the head lobbyist (and a former exec) of Monsanto.
I agree GMOs should be labeled. And I agree that some GMOs are bad. But many GMOs have been in your food far longer than you realize, and have no impact compared to the non GMO alternative. The fact of the matter is, the GMO bill that was proposed in Oregon was very poorly worded, and would have allowed food with GMOs to continue to be labeled non GMO and causing somethings with trace amounts of GMO to be labeled as GMO.
The whole "GMOs are bad" fad is so old and outplayed. For the most part, GMOs are not bad, at all. They provide for more sustainable farming. While I agree, Monsanto has some less than savory business tactics, their product is far from unsavory
