Oink Oink....Howdy Fellers
By God I made it! I was dismissed from the hospital this afternoon after 11 long long days. They replaced my Aortic Valve with a mechanical....successfully bypassed 4 arteries and installed a pacemaker. I am as good as new or could hope to be at this point. And, they gave me 360 Hydrocodein tablets to go along with the other 15 gillion medications that I am taking. I go back to the doc on Friday for some more testing to see how everything is stabilizing. They may even remove the pacemaker if all looks good. But, no more long hospital stays it does not look like. I feel awesome! I can breath great and have no chest pain whatsoever except for the structural damage where they literally ripped my chest apart. I am bluer than ...well...I cant think of anything to compare it to.
I am glad that Becky was able to get the message to Damage during this incident. It was important to me that you guys and gals knew. My kids do not understand this but we do and that is what matters. Your prayers and thoughts helped me pull through this. Sometimes emotional medicine is just as good as the intrinsic and can do wonders. I was going going for every edge that I had available.
The cardiovascular doc says that the congestive Heart Failure could all but disappear within a few months. I am no longer retaining any water and have lost 25 lbs due to water loss. I go see a heart failure specialist on Friday. I have no idea what they will tell me except for suspicioning that they tell me to give it sweet time and not to jump back in the water too quickly. So what better way to recupirate than to play eh? Oh..and they told me me that I needed to win every game in order for the healing process to happen faster...LOL.
I am so very glad to be back once again in the saddle. I was a scared old man and am not afraid to admit it. I was relieved once they found the culprit and knew then that we were starting the battle. Things could be much worse. While I was in the hospital, a friend of mine went in for a simple acid reflux procedure under anesthesia. He had a reaction and has yet to wake up from a coma...so I count my blessings and find life extremely ironic and strange.
See you in the game my friends and thanks so much for your friendship, prayers, and thoughts.
