No the war wasn't for slavery, I know, it was to preserve the Union, but after Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Address, and the Emancipation Proclamation, the war shifted to an anti slavery war, and in the end abolished slavery overall. How about we change to George Washington? Without him we wouldn't BE a country.
