Some people, like myself, are musicians who love music and love playing music but don't have enough money to afford the music we would like to listen to(because I am young and therefore can't really get a job, have no drivers licence)..... As for seeing shows, there's hardly ever any free shows in Kentucky and if there is I'd like to know where. I try to buy alot of my music but doesn't always happen like that.

Replied. Sorry, i just had to :K

BTW, i just bought a book in the Kindle store :headbang:

Superbia, book one and two. Very short, but great so far. I read half of book one last night. The dialogue is dead on for cops and just hilarious at times.

Paying more than a dollar for a song is ridiculous. The good songs, whose artist has actually talent/a song I will listen to more than a few times, sure I will pay for it.

For songs that are popular for a month, I won't pay for. I'm young and have no money, but like papa Houston said, we share songs throughout the family, so I do not get music myself very often.

As an example, I paid $8 for an album of 50 classical songs. On the other hand, for a LMFAO song, I paid nothing.

I don't justify it any which way...

While I am not a producer, I have enough experience in the world of music business to know what I am talking about, and I can back it up with work done at berklee and with teachers recommendations. I make absolutely no claim to being a professional.

I'm sorry but you don't need to be give all this information to tell us that pirating is stealing, we know it. I pirate too and I have no trouble with it. I go to live concerts by the bands I like and buy their merchandise. Still I am never planning on buying music and really you can't judge us for not "loving" the music when we steal it. That's just a whole load of crap. I get inspired, feel relaxed or enlightened by the bands I love just as much as any other fan that actually pays for their music.

I buy pretty much all of my music. I find DLing pirate music is a PITA. You get crappy quality, incomplete songs, sometime even the wrong song. Some obscure stuff I have downloaded from way back but it's just too much of a chore to get.

I have over 400 CDs right here in the room, all of which I have digitised.

Same goes for movies. Pirated movies are even worse that music. Like I want to watch some crap handy-cammed-off-the-screen in stereo on my home theatre. These days it's cheaper to buy the movie that actually go there anyway, if you're happy to wait a couple of months to see the flick.

Games too. If piracy gets out of hand, the developers will simply stop making them.

You must download from the worst place ever created in the history of the Internets. Do you still use Limewire or something :K.

I NEVER have wrong songs, all are in 320 or FLAC quality complete with full ID3 tags and album art. Each album takes me five minutes or less to get usually.

I actually find CD's to be a pain. You need storage space for them, changing the discs in and out from your player constantly, no real ability to make playlists on the fly unless you want to program it into your cd player, having to rip each individual CD onto your PC if you wan't to xfer to an mp3 player or Ipod. :fuckthatshit:

On the plus side, you don't lose 80 gigs of hard drive space like i do :K

Movies are ripped in 720p or 1080p quality , look and sound great. Not AS good as blu ray, but still very good, IMO. And I'm quite picky.

Same for tv shows on channels i don't get such as HBO or w/e.

I have a hard time believing developers will stop making games in a billion dollar industry. I'm sure they factor in expected losses due to piracy before releasing each title and piracy is nothing new. Most MP games , if any, can't be played on legit servers anyways as far as i know so people will always continue to buy those.

I have bought all of my songs off iTunes. Why? Because I don't know how to pirate and I don't really care to learn. And I just don't see the big deal about paying .99-1.29 american dollars for a song, especially if you really like it. Now I did steal Minecraft off idk where or how i just clicked WaLLy's link and boom I had it. Besides that I payed for all my games and songs.

No seriously, I've never stolen anything out of the back of a truck, and certainly not DVD players.

well dude, stealing a cd from the store is not quit the same thing as downloading it, cause the cd has a material worth and if it is stolen the shops will LOSE money, a file is just a file and noone loses money on downloading even tho some people dont gain what they would have without download. for me i can say that i buy music i really like, because i ofcourse support the artist. but if i just download sth i want to try out, i wouldnt be ready to pay for it anyways...so its often not, buy instead of download, but nothing instead of download...and that doesnt support musicians neither. on the other hand now that i downloaded it, and i like it i will tell friends about it. so music is spreading much better with illigal downloads, so one way or the other it is going to lead to more succes for the musician, even if indirekt.

You realize it takes money to create music, right? As well as time, which is money, considering that career musicians don't get a salary, usually. And if what is really going on is simply that people download low bitrate music for free to find what music they like (which in the days of Spotify, Grooveshark, and Pandora seems a little unjustified), simply so when they find what they do like, they go out and buy the music at high bitrate, I'd have little to no problem with that. And when you buy music, it's really best to buy it as directly from the musician as possible. In the internet age, this is quite easy. They all have websites.

Also, consider that money has little to no material worth in itself. Stealing a 100 dollar bill would be quite similar to steal a 1 dollar bill, looking at it that way. Also consider that a lot of money has NO material value (credit, stocks, bonds).
