Are you up near your download limit? Your ISP may have trimmed the sound so you don't go over.
Maybe it's a bandwidth issue, if everything is coming through except the sound you need a fatter network cable.
Turn off your anti virus too, it may be blocking the sound, especially if there's rude lyrics.
Correct me if I'm wrong but IE itself doesn't actually play the multimedia content does it? Embedded multimedia content would be handled by a plug in, yes?
And I have to concur with Joe. If you use IE you may as well go to Google and search for viruses and download them yourself.
