Actually in this case, the players involved are big business, SUCH as healthcare. IDK if you realize this, but the healthcare industry made no meaningful amount of layoffs due to the recession, at all. What does this mean? It means the private health care market is SO big and SO well off that even the biggest recession since the great depression did not affect it in a notable way.
I do not know all of the provisions of the health care bill, but i can assure you that both Republicans AND democrats have pinned so much crap on it that should not be there. Shit big business wants in that bill. And how is this an example of less involved government? I think as citizens we need to recognize that a lot of our so called "conservatives" are just as manipulative of legislation to secure personal benefits.
Since a true free market economy as is the model for the basic study of economics can not be possible, complete lack of regulation is one of the worst things you could ask for to happen to our economy. Human rights are human rights. If you ask the government to stop regulating completely, you'll end up with the problems seen during the industrial revolution, when businesses were NOT regulated. YES they need space to grow, YES it hurts when the government is sapping their consumer base, NO removing regulation is not inherently good. BAD regulation is bad, not regulation in general.
We need to look at things on a case by case basis. Making generalizations that limit our ability to adequately give each issue the attention it needs to be dealt with correctly. I need to check out the health care bill, I am sure it's a fkin mess. BUT, i think SOMETHING needs to be done about health care in our society.
Also, talking about rights to healthcare. The product the health care industry sells is not just like a sneaker. It's not the same as saying, "well this shoe sucks, i aint payin for it." The oppurtunity cost of NOT getting any health care makes the ability of the consumer to adequately decide the success and failure of the businesses in teh market insufficient. Basically, a lot of people get an ultimatum, "buy this shit, or you'll die" and where else do we see that in our economy, and how is that part of a healthy economy? I don't think just fre health care for everyone is a good idea, but people have a right not to be FORCED into buying a product like that. So a public ALTERNATIVE that is as cheap and dirty as possible (in simple, ignorant terms because idk shit about this) would help to keep the private sector of that industry competing for it's consumers' welfare.

LoL Dude, well it seems you have been "programmed" as pwn would call it by the corporate media (paid for by the government) as well as pwn too. Maybe not all he has done is Anti-American but it's certainly unconstitutional though and taking away all of our rights, so if you believe the things he's doing is good then you are clearly against what the constitution stands for. Also think about what you said, you think for yourself, that will change once the government owns you.
With that being said, how can creating a Health care plan that we can't afford being good? Not only that but spending the trillion + that he has (that we still don't have) and basically bankrupting our Country good for us? Putting up Telescreens in Walmarts and many other companies in the USA basically telling everyone to spy on their neighbors, is that also good? Or taking away our gun rights to where we can't have guns like Mexico, end up with many more deaths per year than we have now. Oh and not to mention the take over of the internet, this "new" internet you hear about is exactly that, it will be a government controlled internet and gives them the ability to shut it off at will, look this stuff up if you don't believe me, anyways that's it for now.
BTW Dude, if your the "real" American what do you plan on doing when you get "active"? Just curious...
This shit sounds like the 50s. Gun rights like mexico? Mexico is a third world country. Modelling our decisions off of what has happened to them is a BAAAAD idea unless you look at it in the realistic context.
ANd blu, if the shit you are saying, AS you describe is ,is actually happening AS you describe it, of course i am against it. I happen to disagree. I think media scare is the new craze, and i think it trickles through more than just your tv screen.
The president is not the only person in charge in our government. Legislation is primarily dealth with by... thats right... the LEGISLATIVE branch.
EDIT: media scare is not a new craze at all, im retarded. This shit has been around in one way or another since information was could be sold.
