Minecraft will be down for another day =/

It all started because I wanted to get the Mail service running on my home server. Actually, I got it running last month but for whatever reason when I tried adding a new email addy, it just wouldn't work. Spent a few days and last night I decided to nuke the machine and upgrade to Mavericks server. Before anything, I do have a backup of Minecraft and McMyAdmin, so everything should be setup as before. Apologies in advance to @Kreubs if it somehow messes up the groups

Woke up this morning, configured Mavericks and didn't bother with the Server part as I wanted MC up already. In order for MC to work on OSX, I need to compile mono. Welp, something is up and I spent hours (4+) trying to get the darn thing to install on Mavericks. Nothing! Since I tried various things to no avail, I went ahead and nuked it again. Fresh install, and waiting for another try tomorrow morning, or if I have time, I'll try while I'm at work.

And that's not the only thing I broke last night... I ended up fudging up Windows 7 I had on another drive. :picard: On the bright side, I ended up using the 500GB drive I had in another bay instead. I'm royally pissed I have to start over on NBA 2K14 though . I had no backup of that :/

Welp, hopefully I have better news later on today.

@Kreubs @Storky know anything about compiling mono on OSX? The tutorials I had seem to have gone away and/or are missing a step which I don't recall. :/

They don't provide pre-built versions anymore for OS X? I'll have to look it up.

Hopefully McMyAdmin's group and permissions files are in dropbox. The group file was last I checked.

I'm pretty sure you'll have seen these on google search but:

http:\/www.mono-project.com/Compiling_Mono_on_OSX

http:\/monodevelop.com/Developers/Mac_Support/Building_MonoDevelop_on_OS_X

^Mono develop which is probably different

http://www.unfocus.com/2013/10/10/compiling-mono-and-playscript-on-osx-mountain-lion-10-8/

I wouldn't know where to start tbh sorry mate I have never owned an OSX let alone seen Maverick, all i know is it's similiar to UNIX.

In another wave of thought, which step of installing/compiling are you "stuck" on? Might be able to throw some troubleshooting ideas your way if I delve into the depths of the Internet.

I've always had to compile mono in order for it to work with McMyAdmin.
I made a backup of all MMA and MC settings in any case.

Yeah, I've seen those links already. For some reason, I thought you had a Mac XD Whoops!
I'm gonna give it another go in the morning. Or tonight, if the wife lets me stay up but I highly doubt that XD

Minecraft is back up. I have yet to install MC on Win7, can someone verify MC is working as it should? I verified all the groups, worlds and MMA settings were transferred.
edit:
just confirmed everything is back to normal. Please start a new thread if you find any mishaps because of the downtime.

What I eventually installed last night was the 32-bit version of Mono. A simple program that does the work. Previously I would compile 64-bit mono because that's what McMyAdmin suggested. Since I upgraded (fresh install) to Mavericks, the mono version I've always used previously was giving me errors when compiling. Had to find other workarounds which the 32bit version worked.... Kinda. Last night, the machine itself restarted on its own. Odd. I was in MC and no other service was running besides MC and Dropbox. It was late and I left it alone.

I ended up getting woken up to the single beeps that the machine has done previously (probably RAM going bad). This meant that the machine restarted itself. Not sure how many times it might have rebooted on its own since the time I went to sleep. Either way, not good.

Decided to try to compile 64-bit mono again. Ended up finding a version that worked! Did another fresh install of Mavericks, compile 64-bit mono and off we go! Thus far, it hasn't rebooted on its own. I'm hoping a couple people can get on MC and stress test it. I'll try to get on tonight as well. I added the startup script and just in case the machine restarts (without the beeps), MC will start up on its own. Currently don't have Dropbox running, which I'll install it tomorrow if the machine doesn't act up anymore.

Sorry for the downtime everyone. Lets get back to mining! :)

I find it hard to help without troubleshooting it myself! lol
