Guns and Ammo

The very fact that it becomes news when a normal citizen actually defends themselves and their family with a gun should clue you in to something....

I think guns are sexy. And like any testosterone-filled male, I am, of course, attracted to guns. Just like craft beer, there is some beautiful, artfully-made, high-functioning shit out there. However, if you at all buy one with that inkling of "yoooo, I could totally fuck some shit up with this," in your head, you probably shouldn't be given a killing tool.

That is all I will say. We already have a thread for the gun debate. This is one for talking about what guns people have.

Let's keep it that way.[DOUBLEPOST=1393448583][/DOUBLEPOST]In that light, however, I am seriously thinking of getting a nice airsoft gun and a nice bb gun. The bb gun is for more practical purposes (like warding off those stupid fucking german shepherds). The airsoft is for fun. The only problem I run into airsoft is that the ammo is so light, it seriously limits the range and accuracy of the gun.

Anyone have any info on this stuff?

I think I want the pistol for the bb gun (portable)
and a rifle for airsoft.

Remmington 1200 12 Gauge is the only one I currently have because of my age. As soon as I'm 21 I'm going to get a concealed carry permit and buy a Glock 21, 45 Cal. My dad has one and it's a dream to shoot.
why do you want to have a concealed weapon?
dont you just put it in the trunk, go to the next shooting range, have some fun, put in back in the trunk, and go home again.

pls give us euros a heads up:)

btw. my grandpa used to have a ww2 k98 and a hunting shotgun ( he had hunterlicens ofcourse), but the goverment forced him to turn it in after a kid shot people at his school.

i shot them a few times, was quite fun.

I'd like to have a concealed weapon permit for that exact reason. I'd mainly use it to transport guns to the range. However, every once in a while, I have to go to a bad part of town by myself and I'd like to have a gun with me in case something bad happens, which most likely won't. But, you can never be too prepared.

You need a CC permit to take your weapons to the range?

Also, this isn't a thread about politics, gun laws, your view of guns etc. Posts like Buck's will be deleted in the future. This is to discuss firearms , post pictures of them, etc.

EDIT - I'm actually just going to delete it. If you don't like guns, don't read the thread.

It depends on your state. Most states say that if your gun is secure in a case/holster/glove compartment then you don't need a license. However, if you have it in a pocket or something like that, you would need a permit. Essentially if you're concealing on your person you need a permit. If it's just in the car, then whatever.

But again, this is a state by state basis.

Edit: From Alabama's State Handgun Law:
A
person may lawfully transport a firearm, including a handgun, from one state in which they are legal to possess
to another state without a permit as required under Alabama law, provided the following conditions are met:
 The firearm is unloaded.
 Neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible
from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle.
 In case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment, the firearm and
ammunition shall be in a locked container other than the glove box or console.
Title 18 U.S.C. section 926A.

You must have a permit to conceal carry a loaded weapon. I'm glad I know that now :D

Here's the state's handgun laws:

Guess I can tell you what I have. First gun was a 30-06 Ruger, then it just escalated from there. 10-22 Ruger, 30-30 Winchester 1894 model. 9mm Glock, 9mm Springfield xds subcompact and lastly but deff not least a Patriot Arms 308. I have no shotguns personally, but hopefully that will change in the near future. I would like to get a mossberg 500 for dove hunting. I would also like to get a Serbu Super Shorty 12ga just for fun.

All these guns are for fun at the range/hunting. I haven't shot anyone and I don't plan on doing so.
As far as ammo goes...I mostly reload on my own now a days because of how big of a pain in the ass it is to find ammo, 9mm and 22 ammo especially.

Been trying to find .22 for months. It doesn't exist in Alabama.

I live in the UK and i'd like to own a gun. But id keep it to protect the house, i wouldn't take it with me eveyrwhere i go. (seems like a burden to have a heavy metal thing on your hip).

You can't buy guns here in the UK but any 18 year old can go into a kitchen store and buy a 15 inch meat cleaver/carving knife. Or pick up a brick off the floor from our shitty roads.

Just one thought: if the world ever becomes lawless, murica would rule lol

President Obama has caused a lot of people all over the country to freak out because of some of his gun control stances. They haven't really been put in place, but people are still buying all the ammo and weapons they can in case things turn bad.

I don't think it's really necessary, but it's annoying not being able to find .22 because it's so fun to shoot D:

Mate - thats out of order - its called balance - and in any event I didnt start it - any number of posts regarding 'law' /the pros of gun ownership (Mom, Kreubs, Wally, The dude) - none of them mine, in fact Moms post 2 posts later is entirely about law and you make reference to 'law' in your own post. You obviously didnt read the article. I make no comment for or against guns and neither did I express an opinion 1 way or the other - just to delete it - thats BS man

My post was a clarification post. Your post did not relate to the topic at hand, which is who has what gun. The only thing that that link could have done was start a debate which was not what this thread is about. My posts are only concerning my future plans for firearms, not condoning or disagreeing with current/future laws.

This thread isn't about gun control, it's about how people who have firearms use them. People like Storky and garycheese who live in the UK are coming to this thread inquiring about firearms, not in an attacking or even debating way, but in a way that just asks why people have them. I stated why I have/will have mine. A link that states that gun deaths will exceed traffic deaths doesn't relate to the OP. It can only start a debate.

If you want to bring that debate back up, I'd be glad to have it, but not in this thread. The link that TheDude provided is for that.
