im assuming the ram is bad but before i RMA it i thought id ask ur guys opinions

first off all sticks are corsair vengeance 1600mhz 4gb i have 3(2 original and 1 new)

the original both work fine no problems at all but the new one is put into hardware reserve

the only difference between the ram sticks are 2 are ver 2.12 and the new one is ver 3.24

ive took all the ram sticks out and tried running the new one in each slot wont post, wont beep

but when all installed both task manager and cpuz detect that i have 12gb ram

put one of the older sticks in, leave the other slots blank. If the machine boots up ok, then there's a pretty good chance that the newer ram is faulty. RMA it., get memtest to test it also, might have to leave it running overnight but it will tell you if it's faulty or not.

Like animal said, sounds like a bad stick to me. When did it start to happen, have you had the new stick for a while or just now get it?

I would also do as animal said, put the new one in, run memtest when it boots and let it go, takes quite some time to get through it but it'll let you know ;)

If the new one keeps it from POSTing from any slot, then it sounds like a factory defect.
