HOW TO POPULATE THE BOLT ONLY SERVER: Please Read

I realize that The Krew is currently trying to populate the a1 Broadcast server; however, I have a few ideas and suggestions that I really feel will increase the activity on our bolt only server substantially. I have been playing bolt only for the last 2 months and have made numerous observations. For one, TDM is suboptimal when considering bolt only play. This should change to Free-For-All. The most competitive bolt only servers on COD4 are all FFA (TnL, eX, TWD, qxD, RiP); most of which are run by the Aussie community and have strange hours of activity. Therefore, I feel this server has the potential to be quite populated very quickly. In addition, these servers only run on small maps! Typically Killhouse-only or a combination of Killhouse and Shipment (even Showdown can be thrown into the mix). The reasons for this are simple. Bolt only players want to quick-scope and no-scope rather than hard-scope. Hard-scoping is promoted by larger maps and TDM and often frowned upon by the bolt only community. I can almost guarantee that these few changes will instantly populate our a4 bolt only server. What's there to lose? It's always empty anyway...

There are only 2 TDM maps on the bolt server, the rest are FFA. I am one of the people that frequents the bolt server quite often and I like the map lineup. I know which bolt only servers you're referring to because I have played in them prior to KKK getting a bolt only server. The problem isn't with the map lineup because when we get a few people in there to get the server going- it goes. The servers you are speaking about for the most part only have a bolt only server and perhaps 1 other server to populate. We have 8 COD4 servers. Our main goal is to populate a1, the rest are just icing on the cake. Prior to adding the 2 TDM maps, it was strictly FFA and seen less traffic than it does now.

I am guessing your suggestion would be to try a 3 map rotation of Killhouse, Showdown, and Shipment on FFA mode for the server. Would this be a correct assessment of your post?

Being one of the main frequenters of the bolt server, I would be OK with trying this providing the others and of course Wally (Wally does a small say in this, right? :K) are on board. The thing is, the small map bolt server is a cornered market with those servers already seeing traffic. It would be needed for people like you to get into the server and populate it regularly with sometimes no people in there to get it up to the population other servers see. If not, people will continue to go to those servers and all that happens is we lose maps that we like to play in our bolt server.

Also, I like to play bolt only but I enjoy hard-scoping. There are a few of us bolters out there that like to actually snipe but we conform to the QS and NS to appease the masses. QS, HS, NS, DS... whatever gets the kill is what I do.

Your assessment is correct. Those are my main suggestions. I wasn't aware of how the a4 server used to be run and maintained. I would absolutely frequent the server more often to attempt to get it going. I think there is much more potential in our bolt only server and it's just a matter of The Krew collaborating to make it better. Bolt only play is popular enough on COD4, so there should be something that can be done to improve its activity.

I have no say on the lineup. Whatever the regulars want is what I try to get them. If you guys want certain changes, I will do them just so long as most of the regulars are on board.

Happy to make any changes you guys want. I'm all for trying anything that gets the server activity. :)

Dude there is no map in cod4 that is big enough to not quickscope on.

You say you want competitive bolts? :YUNO: quickscope on countdown?

Killhouse and shipment bolts gets SO. BORING.

Just a bunch of noobs hopping up and down getting luckshots...etc. It's fun to have thrown in the rotation, but building your entire Bolts Game (you, the player's Bolt Game) on Shipment will leave you utterly useless in a real match, when your team needs a sniper to quickly pick some fools off :shooting: . Countdown FFA would be good. It is a large, circular map with rotating spawns (as opposed to 2 large spawn zones, as seen on Crossfire or the like). Showdown is also good for this reason. Ambush is a good, large map for FFA. It has plenty of places for people to set up shop, as well, which means you also have to get good at sniping those who set up shop (which for me is a favorite).

And what about bloc? There are entire portions of that map that don't even get used in Team Play. Set it up for FFA and mb we get use out of the whole map.

I agree, as well, sam. The big thing we need to do is start playing on the server. That's how we get it populated. It really doesn't matter what's running on it (in terms of getting the server started). We had a hell of a time getting server 1 started again, and look what that's running. Most popular shit ever.
