The Moment

So tonight was the end of the month so everyone's credit cards are expiring. Several people came through the drive-thru and had to use different cards. One lady came through and had obviously had a long day. She handed me her card and I informed her that it was expired. She looked at me with the most downtrodden face. She looked through her purse and could find any other cards or cash. "Can you just cancel the order?" she said. I pulled out my debit card and swiped it on the register, handed her her food and asked if she needed anything else for her meal. Her face brightened and she told me that I didn't have to do that, but I insisted. She drove off with a smile after thanking me. I knew it made her day.

If $6.47 could buy people's happiness, I sure would buy everyone some.
