Just wondered if anybody had been a recipient of a random act of kindness.

About a week ago me any Mrs Animal were at a d.i.y. store getting some paint, we had got the paint and rollers etc, when some guy comes up and offers me a card, i took it and then saw it was a card which entitled us to 10% off for that day. This guy wan't an employee, just some regular shopper like myself. His kindness made my day. Do you have any stories you'd like toi share with us?

I try to give random acts of kindness more than I receive them. I work at a fast food restaurant, so every once in a while, I like to give people free drinks or food. Stuff like that makes them happy and makes me feel good.

Yesterday I went on my porch and there was a box of books waiting there. My neighbor knowing how much I love to read left them there as a surprise. I've been having a hard time lately and it meant a lot to me. She's got a lifetime supply of free baked goods coming her way from me.

Thanks for making this thread Animal! It's nice to come on here and have something like this to read.

Went to 7/11 to get a coffee this morning on my way out. I walked in, and started making my coffee, as I was going up to pay the girl that's there every time I go in said it was on the house.

Then I got to school half an hour early and was sitting on a bench across the street from campus. I was sitting to the left of a girl, didn't talk to her, she had her headphones in. As she was getting up to leave (5 minutes or so later) she hugged me and told me, "No matter how hard life gets stay strong and fight on. Love your tattoo." Then she turned and walked away without a glance back.

I was making shopping...pushing my kart with nothing in mind...waiting in the queue when an old dude look at me and start singing an old song wich start by "Faut pas pleurer comme ça..." (you dont have to cry like that)...I was like: shit! if he says that imagine how's your face...He made me smile and every time i push my shopping kart now he's in my mind.

This week in school I had heard a girl in my class talk about her family's economic troubles. This girl has enough problems already. She is constantly mocked because she is a lesbian, she is a little autistic, and because she doesn't really talk to anyone.

My school has this "Make a wish" program so I decided to get a paper and wish for her family to be helped through the holiday season. Made me feel like I made a difference in her life.

This morning my sister woke up and made me and my brother eggs, grits, and toast. She is the best.

I saw a turtle a few weeks ago trying to cross the road.

I stopped my car right in the middle of the road blocking traffic in 2 directions to pick that turtle up and take him into the woods down the road a bit.

Always feel good about helping the critters.

Past acts of kindness/goodness:
1. Saw an act of vandalism of a vehicle, reported it to police with license plate of offender. Dude pleaded no contest to misdemeanor criminal vandalism.
2. Several other turtles crossing the road.
3. Saved two kids on separate occasions from drowning at a pool.
4. Was sitting there talking to a policeman I knew when this guy/bum rides by on a bike. I knew he had warrants, told the cop, dude got arrested. Good citizen ftw!
5. Arrived at the scene of a car accident with injuries. Took control of the scene directing people to put up safety flares, to contact police/ambulance, provide first-aid to two injured people, one child. (Both survived.)
6. Always help my neighbors, strangers in need when I can.

How do you make the world better?
I discovered about myself at one point that my mission in life is to make the world a better place and if I can do little things to reach that goal, i will.

When we were in the states, in Macy's, a lady came up to us and gave us a 10% discount card (we already had one, as they give them to overseas visitors, but she wasn't to know that), but it was a kind thought.

I paid it back in Seaworld, we had 3 fast pass tickets to the Manta Ray, the new roller coaster. I went once, and no way Jen or Maddie were going to use it, so I gave the tickets to a couple who looked a bit exasperated at the mile-long line.

While I was repairing my roof during these past few weeks, a couple neighbors came over to help me out, and I managed to finish fixing everything much quicker than anticipated. I wish I could help them as much as they helped me

My school is a private school that has an options program for kids with disabilities. One day when I was leaving school, I saw some kids from the public school bullying one of them. I walked past like I knew nothing or saw nothing, after a few more steps I heard a "thud" noise. I looked back and saw they started to beat him. I thought to myself "Fuck that shit", I dropped all my stuff then ran at the options guy to help him. We got into a big fight with the locals, after a while they got bored with fighting and left. After all that while I was facing their direction, I felt two arms go around my chest. It was the options kid hugging me, crying and saying "Thank you".

I've never felt so happy in my life.

yeah i hate bullies, the last guy that bullied me in 4th grade i ended up knocking out, he also happened to be the cool kid on campus and me and my friend were nerds for building robots and remote controlled cars. But after my friend and I built a small scale hover craft that sat two people and worked he apologized for being so mean, 5 years later i get a friend request on fb from him, didn't accept it but weird how creating something cool rather than trying to be cool through bullying changes everything.

thought that wasn't a random act of kindness, below is,

3 years ago I was helping teach young teens and kids how to be junior lifeguard, I had no formal training in lifeguarding expect having really strong swimming skills, one day while everyone was enjoying lunch a friend of mine who was teaching with me under the supervision of the lifeguards, we both saw 4 victims of a rip current, without hesitation both of us where up and running with 2 9ft rescue boards, we were able to get both of the kids on the boards and surf them into shore to their parents who were grateful and unaware their children where in danger.

Last year right around this time it was pouring outside, this homeless lady I had seen around campus a lot was shivering, no jacket and looking for cans. I was 45 minutes early, and in no rush. I took her to the bookstore and got her a jacket then took her to our campus Starbucks for coffee and breakfast.

Apparently she's back on her feet, I'm here early and she just offered to repay the favor and took me for coffee and breakfast :)

Crash their roofs and then feel free to help them as much as they helped you :)

My school is the center of kindness in the Fairfax, Va area. We have "service hours" in which we have to preform hrs, depending on grade, to people that are homeless, disabled, sick, dying etc. If you don't get a total of 50hrs before senior year......you won't be able to graduate. Last week we called "Hunger action week" and if where we, the student, bring in can/money to feed the homeless and hungry. last year our school raised some 10,000$ and brought more than 30,000 cans. The shelter that got the food have food for almost the entire year. and as a reward we, the students, got a day off :D
