Baking your graphics card is an awesome way to bring it back from the dead.

Ok, so I had a 9800GT sitting in a box for a year and a half because it had been artifacting. I am glad I didn't take it apart because just the other day, I thought of trying the oven trick. I took the heatsink off and cleaned that sucker up, put in on foil balls, and popped it in the oven at 200° C for 8 minutes. I noticed the board was a little warped, but I never really examined it before hand so that may have been the actual cause of the issue.

Here it is fresh out of the oven. :D

Now my once dead graphics card is now pumping pixels in an older machine.
CUDA cakes anyone?

It'd probably taste better if you actually put icing or something on top.

Nice one Kreubs!

Pony, the oven helps melt the solder and reset the connections etc as far i as i understand it.

i tried this once, didnt work for me lol, the capacitors popped. lol

temp was 250 F i think, preheated, shoved the card in walked out the room, heard a pop like it was in a microwave lol pulled it out capacitors popped off, some were swollen

I dunno why it would have done that doesnt sound like you had it in very long.

That's a bummer :/ I put mine in at 385° F and they didn't even budge. Were they swollen beforehand?

Nope, everything was fine visibly, this was abt 2 weeks ago maybe..gots no funds for a new card atm, using intel HD3000 graphics....siggh oh well :)

Baking can work wonders. You prob just added another 6-8 months of life into this card. After that you might need to rebake. The chance of it working again a 2nd time drops a bit. By the 3rd bake it becomes really slim.
