Hello everyone,
I received some very bad news earlier today from our game server provider (GSP). The GSP received some IP constraint from their current provider and are being forced to migrate to another provider and locations.
How does it affect us?
-New locations = new IP addresses
-It affects all of their locations (currently Dallas, Washington D.C., and San Jose)
-New location = Chicago
-Both our Dallas and San Jose servers will get axed
-We will be starting fresh because of all new IP addresses
-The change will go in effect May 15th, 2012
This is all short notice and at the moment the only thing I have as an option is to migrate S1 to Chicago, if push comes to shove. The reality is, I'd like to get a dedicated server for our needs. I have asked our GSP to provide us with quotes, and various other locations available for us to select.
I'm also looking for backup GSP's, for the time being. So if you know of a GSP that offers inexpensive servers, please post here.
Feel free to post your questions and/or concerns and I will try to answer them as best I can.
