I agree with Anonymous. We should have free access to the internet. We are not a communist nation so why should we be treated like we are?

You can find child porn all over the internet, should we have free access to that as well?

I don't agree with SOPA entirely, but the bottom line is, downloading music, apps, movies, etc is illegal. They have every right to try and stop it. The argument presented in this video seems extreme and anti-Government. Saying the Gvmt is trying to restrict people from accessing free information etc is preposterous , IMO. The bill is meant to stop illegal pirating of copy written material. The fact the speaker brings up solders dying etc is the real insult and pisses me off. This isn't a bill to restrict freedoms etc, it's meant to restrict Illegal use of intellectual property.

I find this a way to control what we see/do. It's people's choices as to what they do on the internet and the internet belongs to everybody. Those that do illegal things should be stopped but do not punish everyone else. We should be able to free;y roam the internet as we choose, as the internet is not the property of just one person, but the property of thw world as a whole and therefore should not be treated as the sole property of the government. They should not have the right to censor what we do on the internet. Lets face it, even if they do this, piracy and as dan said "kiddie porn" will still be happening. Just more secretive and more difficult to locate the source.

No there are definite rights to the things you create. As you get older, you will realize why taking everything for free is wrong, and you will probably end up buying more of the things you use. If you live near a farm, you could steal crops, but that wouldn't be right, even though you'd get away with it.

However, censorship is a completely different thing. If people could be more responsible overall, we wouldn't be mixing the two up, or feeling like we have to.

Internet needs to stay a business separate from the gov't, though.

i wasnt saying pirating isnt wrong, i was saying that the government censoring our use of that stuff is wrong. I pay for 99% of my stuff. only exceptions were fraps and few movies.

but if thats how people use the web its their choice and they should be dealt with. not everyone else.

I think anonymous is a bunch of semieducated people in a mass making stupid decisions and most do it for the name.

Real people make real organizations and produce something.

I'm tired of this ''underground'' new age thought bullshit. It's not. Rich kids on the internet is not new age thinking. They probably all listen to dubstep.

Lol.

I don't know much about them myself, but after listening to that video, I'd agree. They do not sound particularly smart. Hiding under a cloak of anonymity, disguising your voice and making extremist statements doesn't make you informed, educated or cool. I thought the guy sounded like a fkn idiot personally.

That would be funny if that "idiot" came and hacked your computer and deleted all of your porn

$47 million over 4 years....taxpaying population of the US 139.3 million.....around 35 cents over 4 years....need more details though...ambiguous is right,as in assigning such sweeping statements to an attempt to protect intellectual property...Not being able to download music for free does not amount to being oppressed...still more details are needed for a more informed opinion.
p.s. The internet is an amazing achievement that would not be possible without government infrastructure(power grid ,telecommunications, sattelites etc...) Imo " freedom" is a privilege not a right, it is not guaranteed that human civilization will last forever in it's present state. I feel lucky that ,for the time being, these amazing technologies exist at all. If I have to pay a musician for his work,so be it...I am glad to in fact..this is my humble opinion which is always open and subject to change.

Bred, you are one smart dude. :)

And yea, just because you can use your compy to fuck up other people's stuff, doesn't make you smart...... it certainly doesn't make you a hero of justice, lmfao.

When people have power over other people, they tend to think their ideas are better or more important.

And also, I think we'll see a lot more of that money going straight o the musician in coming years. The necessity for a gigantic label will die eventually. Right now, the big companies just have such a grip on the industry, it's impossible for that to happen. But it's easier and easier to write, record, produce, and market your own music. Good effects to come from this.

If it was passes it would not however, only stop downloading of music. If a video (say the one nomercy made a whole ago, which had I think a LMFAO song in the background). If this video was on this site, this site could be taken down because nomercy's video contained a song that is still under copyright. This is the thing that most people are complaining about over SOPA, YouTube could be taken down because a video containing copyrighted music was uploaded.

no one would take youtube down. That's ridiculous.

The people who make money off youtube are some of the ones who want this passed.

And that would somehow make him any less of an idiot?

I was kidding, are jokes still allowed here?

And by the way SOPA has been "shelved" for the time being because of backlash, hopefully it's gone for good but I highly doubt it, they won't stop here....
