MW3: The Epic Review

So come November 8th I bought MW3 on a whim.

Gonna section this into gametypes.

Singleplayer: So far my favorite in the series, but also the shortest so far, taking me only four hours to complete. However, I was playing on recruit (I'm more interested in story than difficulty) and I plan to make a runthrough on Veteran to challenge myself after building my new computer for highest settings (currently running low settings 800x600). I was kinda sad about _____ dying and how since ______ died there's next to no chance for a MW4.

Special Ops: The most redeeming quality about Modern Warfare 3 so far. Great to play solo! I love the rush I get when I'm pinned down by suicide bombers, chemical warfare troops, and such on Baakara. However, the co-op is a bit stuttery at times. Which brings me to....

Multiplayer.
This is where MW3 falls apart. Big time.
Call of Duty has always had a faggy, asshole-filled community. About 95% of them are more likely to make unkind comments about your mother than to compliment that sick throwing knife kill you got. But MW3 is even worse than all of the other games combined. Between the whiners, the Stevos, and the wallhackers you'll occasionally meet, it makes me literally wish this game didn't exist. Anyways, aside from the community, there's the broken-ass spawns, which render Free-for-all UNPLAYABLE since the fags spawncamp. Three major patches in and IW hasn't done jack shit about them. Oh, and the dedicated servers? Yeah, they exist. Too bad they're halfassed shit. Server browser is watered down and ugly, nonfunctional. Most of the dedis are unpopulated, the populated ones being faggy crouch-only servers, servers with anal rules (blocking akimbos, tubes, g18s, etc even though they've all been MAJORLY MAJORLY MAJORLY nerfed), cracked rankup servers (laggy as hell by the way), and/or ones with boring (SnD) or weird (Team Defender) gametypes. Now multiplayer is even MORE Killstreak obsessed. Thought the 15 or so in MW2 was insane? Now there's 15 assault killstreaks, 15 support killstreaks, and you can earn damn perks with specialist. I'll admit, Specialist was creative and fun to use, and at least support encouraged teamwork, but still too focused on killstreaks.

Also worth mentioning, sound is amazing for this one, although that's for a CoD game. It does nothing to chalk up to Battlefield quality, BFBC2 sounded way better.

Singleplayer - 4/5, Good but disappointingly short.
Spec Ops - 5/5 Best part.
Multiplayer - 2/5 Half-assed and broken.

Dude you're multiplayer is all wrong.
The killstreaks are shit. No arguments. More than half the maps are building based, so the airsupport get like no kills.
At least there are no more overpowered guns since the Type 95, pp90m1, and akimbo FMG9's have been nerfed.
I think its the most balanced game so far since COD4.

That's what my initial speculation was as reflected in my Steam Reccomendation for the game posted on Nov 9th.
It was fun at first when nobody knew the maps. But now that the campers found their spots, it's screwed.

I hate to agree with you, but the multiplayer is pretty much as you described. The MW3 multiplayer community is probably the worst out there, and even though i do get into an enjoyable game with enjoyable people on occasion, most of the time it is just frustrating. The hacker problem seems to not have changed since mw2 anad I dont even play TDM or ground war because of it.

My biggest appointment in mw3 though was its dedicated servers. Now i like to think that the game devs over at Sledgehammer and the other teams working on this game had the best intentions and really wanted to make a good multiplayer experience for us but had to meet a dead-line and was running out of time. So one of them went."Hey! How about we just give em unranked servers, and use the old interface from cod4?" They had already promised dedicated servers but didn't have time to program them properly so this it seemed was the best solution. I would like to hope the give the MW3 dedicated servers proper justice through updates, but I know its unlikely.

Other than that I also agree with your opinons on the other aspects of the game, singleplayer and spec ops, awesome!

I was thinking the other day, that spawns should be random. The server should just dump you in a spot that no one is looking at. why have "X" marks the spawn?

You wait, it will happen!

Agree with Houston, nicely written, well thought out great job! Yeh,the dedi aspect is a huge letdown, but as Clip stated I have been able to find some enjoyability here and there...most fun is when we party up...
Sooo..I have found out that the dedicated servers, although not as populated yet,are less laggy and despite being unranked have the option of custom classes with all weps and attachments unlocked. This being the case ,it's just as if I was playing with my full profile in cod4,meaning i dont level up and can choose any weapon at a whim. The only down side i guess is that without ranking ,I assume, is the stats which i dont care much about anyway. There also is some pretty cool mods available to play, gungame being one and a cool 3rd person sniper game that was fun.So in a nutshell ,at first I thought the dedi servers were ghey but I think there is potential for a lot of fun..I will be looking into getting a server for us to play on..

Well that might get annoying if you're camping and someone spawns behind you and kills you. It would eliminate spawn campers though. I think it would be more effective if the game just didn't let players spawn at a spawn point that other players are camping near.

Idk if US server and EU server mix together...but i dont feel like you about MP...for now i've only played KC HC and i've never saw any spawncamper.

First, i've only saw few hackers...maybe one or two confirmed wh, 1 clear aimbot and two glitchers (96-0 on Outpost). Or if there is more wh, i understand now why the guys are using it.
Two.Campers...alright they're annoying as hell...but they are also easy target + they make you know the camping spot just in case you want to have a rest or a sandwiche^^
Three. Killstreaks are overpowered and totally dumb imo...too much flying/gunning object at the same time ruins the game quickly. Plus in KC HC i rarelly reach more than 7, and turrets never last more than 20 sec. Majority of guns are unbalanced too, im on my second levelling round and i've only used SCAR, P90, MP9 and model 1887 to make it. Other rifles are pointless to me. LMG makes you move like a narcoleptic turtle. And there's no real good map for sniping (like Wetwork or CF in MW4)

Four.Community. The first thing i did when i ran the game the first time was to mute all players...Screaming 10y.o russian kids are quickly annoying and like i cant kick in MW3 for abusive mic use, i turned it off^^ That solve a huge part of the annoying ppl issue. For in game chat, its generally quite...GG at end of the round, no vulgarity, nothing worse than in COD4 imo :)

Agrees with HIbred, as much as I'm disappoint with the mw3 multiplayer, it still is as addicting as any other CoD game, if not more, and I find myself playing it ALOT. So I would be thrilled if we could get a Krew server going. Any game is more fun with friends, :D also it would be nice to be able to ban the hackers and assholes that frequent the game.

I thin k our own server would be great. Most of the problems with shitty MP experiences is because of trolls, tards, and hackers.

With our own server we could weed out the riff raff, just as we do with our COD4 servers.

Sarg, there IS a good sniping spot. Its domination on resistance. There's a small store in front of the B flag, and an alleyway that leads down toward C. In average game enemies will usually try to capture B, and of you are a good sniper you'll have tons of fun popping a cap in their ass. Be wary of other sniper in the opposite side though, they might just return the favor when you least expect it. Reccomend using QuickDraw, or even better assassin and marksmen.

So this is what I have found out recently...the dedi servers can somehow be ranked,I played on a sever, leveled up and went back to the normal lobby ones and my rank held as well as weapon level up. Also I went ahead and got a server through gameservers,I am totally down for using it within the KKK realm (or maybe name it K3).I also played a gun game mod and a few others that were very fun. I think the dedi's will become increasingly popular as they play a lot smoother imo,and if we can figure out how make it a ranked one like [RBC]'s one I''m sure it will become popular.Right now it is named GGW serverand is on totally stock map rotation but Boo and I plan to tweak it as we go along, any help would be greatly appreciated .As far as config's go,I am completely ignorant so it will be a work in progress, learning as i go.
