So come November 8th I bought MW3 on a whim.
Gonna section this into gametypes.
Singleplayer: So far my favorite in the series, but also the shortest so far, taking me only four hours to complete. However, I was playing on recruit (I'm more interested in story than difficulty) and I plan to make a runthrough on Veteran to challenge myself after building my new computer for highest settings (currently running low settings 800x600). I was kinda sad about _____ dying and how since ______ died there's next to no chance for a MW4.
Special Ops: The most redeeming quality about Modern Warfare 3 so far. Great to play solo! I love the rush I get when I'm pinned down by suicide bombers, chemical warfare troops, and such on Baakara. However, the co-op is a bit stuttery at times. Which brings me to....
Multiplayer.
This is where MW3 falls apart. Big time.
Call of Duty has always had a faggy, asshole-filled community. About 95% of them are more likely to make unkind comments about your mother than to compliment that sick throwing knife kill you got. But MW3 is even worse than all of the other games combined. Between the whiners, the Stevos, and the wallhackers you'll occasionally meet, it makes me literally wish this game didn't exist. Anyways, aside from the community, there's the broken-ass spawns, which render Free-for-all UNPLAYABLE since the fags spawncamp. Three major patches in and IW hasn't done jack shit about them. Oh, and the dedicated servers? Yeah, they exist. Too bad they're halfassed shit. Server browser is watered down and ugly, nonfunctional. Most of the dedis are unpopulated, the populated ones being faggy crouch-only servers, servers with anal rules (blocking akimbos, tubes, g18s, etc even though they've all been MAJORLY MAJORLY MAJORLY nerfed), cracked rankup servers (laggy as hell by the way), and/or ones with boring (SnD) or weird (Team Defender) gametypes. Now multiplayer is even MORE Killstreak obsessed. Thought the 15 or so in MW2 was insane? Now there's 15 assault killstreaks, 15 support killstreaks, and you can earn damn perks with specialist. I'll admit, Specialist was creative and fun to use, and at least support encouraged teamwork, but still too focused on killstreaks.
Also worth mentioning, sound is amazing for this one, although that's for a CoD game. It does nothing to chalk up to Battlefield quality, BFBC2 sounded way better.
Singleplayer - 4/5, Good but disappointingly short.
Spec Ops - 5/5 Best part.
Multiplayer - 2/5 Half-assed and broken.
