Lower resolution improved FPS?

I was messing with the resolution of cod4 and MW2 and noticed that when I set the resolution to 800x600 it seemed less laggy then my usual resolution of 1024x786. When I tested it with fraps it added about 20 FPS to my usual FPS. Just thought this was an interesting thing I'd share with you guys.

Everyone knows that. It's why I run CoD4 at 640x800 and MW2 at 800x600 because Mw2 gets better frames for some reason

You didn't know this?
You can turn off, or down, a lot of the effects too for better FPS.
But if you have to run your COD looking like Doom in pixellated goodness, maybe it's time for an upgrade...

Wow, I think you are... 25 years late to this concept? Of course it gives an increased fps, less pixels are being rendered.

You can also run in windowed mode to increase FPS more! Press ALT + Enter for non console games. I forgot the one for cod 4

ok ok so EVERYONE knew about this already?!? ARG I just went through all my games that i would normally have to keep on low settings and simply changed the resolution and now they look AMAZING! Like now I just want to play through all my games again staring at shit going oooo that looks pretty! It's like I just got new glasses for my games!

Yeah man I tried lowering my settings on cod4 but once i have it at high settings it's hard to go back to low settings. It feels like my eyes need adjusting.
