When you get a big image how do you resize or cut it out to banner or sig size can it be done with gimp or our graphic editor?If not are there any tool that can resize or cut the images for mac and for free?

I think when you export a picture in gimp you can resize it to your desired dimensions in the exporting box .

You already have the program to do it. It's called Preview.

I'm not using my Mac, so I forget the exact steps to resize an image but here goes.

Preview > Tools > Adjust Size

Or, you can use this online resizer

Cropping in iPhoto. And yes, iPhoto comes with every Mac.

thanks i got it now but when i try to resize it on preview for say i want to scale it to 468x60 i type in 468 as width and 60 as height but the scaled pic comes out very small instead of banner size
