Minecraft rocks, but is extremely buggy. Admins have trouble keeping their servers clean as it is, with a MineCraft specific clan and mods on almost all the time. Griefers and such get away al teh time. If we have a minecraft server, the safest bet would be to have a krew only server, the white list being only for people in the krew. I just don't think it would work out well... though the game is awesome. I'd say it's one of the best buys out there right now, if not THE best buy (aside from cod4)
I think what we should aim to do is get a server running a game that enough of our members will play so it gets enough mod attention to be a nice server and attract loads of people. We want these people to donate to the krew and hopefully the server will fund itself, and possibly more. Any extra funding would allow us to have a server for games like minecraft, which are hard to succesfully run, don't really fall in our niche of gaming, and don't have a huge paying player base.
The most successful games will be ones that are still growing, advertising, and getting new players involved. Battlefield seems to be the best option. There will be new battlefield games, people will continue to try to new ones and then decide to go back and buy the old ones as well. There will be package deals on steam for battlefield games. The player base is sure to keep growing. Not to mention it is of the same genre as CoD so more of our members are likely to have it and enjoy playing it. It is also a huge community and is extremely clan based.
So for the long term... I think Battlefield is the best series to get involved in. We need to have an organized structure for dealing with the needs of both clan sectors. Who admins what? Who's job is what? Does recruitment into one sector guarantee acceptance into the other? Things of this nature.
Having said _ALL_ of this, I'll be happy with whatever game we choose, if we even add another game to our list. All of these games are fun, and it's really this community that has attracted me to playing so much, not just the games.
