While there may be many posts about how PB screws up, and lots of people complain, this is not a real sign that it fails miserably. there are over 70000 bans in the cod4 ban index now, out of those, i think something like 500-1000 have been lifted. Out of THOSE, you have to assume that a portion were bans made by admins looking at footage of the person "hacking" that was sent in by someone outside of punkbuster. Even if only HALF of the people who were banned wrongfully and then unbanned made a post about how they were wrongfully banned and how punkbuster sucks, that would still be at least 250 posts. What may look like a lot of posts is in reality most likely just a result of how many people deal with punkbuster.
While one also has to assume that some of the wrongful bans by punkbuster do not cause the person banned to post on the site, or to even get the ban lifted, that amount of people is not significant.
Also consider, HJ, that when you were playing Americas Army, punkbuster was much older and much less developed. I think a couple of years of everyone who has the slightest problem with pb screaming about it has resulted in a much more stable program.
People who hack in this game and are banned by punkbuster have many options available to them. F8tality had shit tons of key codes. A legit way of dealing with a mistake like hacking and getting banned would be to buy the game again. I bet people who buy a new game will be very unlikely to try and hack again. What does cod4 cost now anyway? 20 bucks? Obli got the version he's banned in for free. Not being able to play it isn't really taking anything away from him. He should be pissed at his cousin, we shouldn't enter into the situation at all. If he really wants to play, he can buy the game. Work $5/hr for 4 hours ------>BAM cod4, and playing on our servers.
It should not be our responsibility to sift through bans on the punkbuster ban list and remove them if they are old. Those people screwed up. It is their responsibility to deal with it. The punkbuster ban list is a big help to a lot of servers. The majority of people that hack will just get banned and move to the next server and hack there. Punkbuster helps to prevent this. I think that the usefulness of the ban list outweighs its problems.
I am pretty sure that if you bought a cod4 (on ebay or something) that had been banned by pb, you could get unbanned simply by sending in the receipt or proof of purchase date, which should be after the pb ban date on that guid.

Dude if thats all true then why isnt all our servers protected by punkbuster? I dont give 2 poops if someone was hacking elsewhere 2 years ago. My point is that we shouldn't ban anyone for hacking unless WE catch them hacking
well i say if they were hacking another server they sure as hell can hack ours as well. I see no problem in using there list to get rid of potential hackers.They made their choice and were caught. Im with Dude even if there were 1000 or so supposedly false bans then the much larger portion of actual bans cant be ignored.So if PB bans u i dont think we should just jump the gun and unban people just cause they claim bs or PB banned falsly.

I said it to Blu and Stevo. I got the original DVD with the papers in it (serial...) and the 55 lvl character Obli.
houston pb isnt on all of our servers because, even though most issues can be resolved fairly easily, there are plenty of people who have issues they dont know how to resolve or do not feel like resolving. There are also people that hate punkbuster and will only play on servers that don't run it. S1 works well as it is; why change it now? If there was anything that would make server 1 (our recruitment server) get less good traffic, we shouldn't do it. We have 3 servers that run punkbuster now.
3 servers that arent being used.. that should tell you something
right. Because they do not already have a steady flow of traffic with regular players, we are not disrupting anything, and are not losing players that normally come there already. They werent getting used before we put PB on them, and they arent now. This, in my opinion, is due to the fact that they are not specialized servers.

I agree with Dude its just a case that we have yet to resolve is getting people on every server it requires so much man power and dedication that its hard to accomplish.
