Ban from your Servers

jiiippiii... i got my new laptop now. so i installed a few games on it.
but the bad surprise was, that i can't join into the server, cause im banned?

so i wrote it into the shoutbox and stevo and blu helped me to get my guid. they looked for the problem, i'm banned cause i had hacked in jannuary 2009?
but i got the game from my cousain in summer, he said he couldn't play on servers.

first time i played the singleplayer, then the multiplayer (i got the 55 char from my cousain).

damage, stevo knows that i have skill, and its fun to play with you.
how does it go on?

ive seen obli on s1 many times and never seen him cheat, hes been banned almost 2 years ago form a pb sever who knows if it was him but i would vote to unban since i played with him and hes situation is kinda different from others

How ive heard the same thing from others as well. Oh i got this game from my friend or well i let my friend borrow it and this is how it ended up. Now dont get me wrong im not sayin this guy hacks ive never heard of him till today but he atm is no different than any other person contesting their ban. lol just something to consider. anyways i will comment no further because im startin to despise these threads poppin up everywhere.They are pretty annoying.

I'm with Stev0 on this. I've played with Obli many times and never seen a hack. I would vote for an unban as well.

i have played with obli quite a bit and i know he hasnt been hackin. I definately vote to unban him. And even if he was the one that got caught hacking back in 09 is it not possible that he learned the error of his ways. Our leader himself has hacked at one point. Dustyn has hacked and is now back in the servers. This is one of the flaws that incorporating PB bans has brought upon us and we shouldn't just tell everyone to f*ck off. I think if the PB ban was over a year old then they should be able to be considered. Especially if they have been one of our usuals.

Well I will also agree with you guys, I've played with him many times too and never suspected him of hacking. I get what Diz said but he also doesn't know Obli and has never played with him, but us others have. And about him getting the game from his cousin?, well who really knows if it's true or not and does it matter anyways? We that have played with him thinks he's telling the truth and I am also with unbanning him, and like Dude said if there is any suspicion of him hacking, well we can ban him, easy as that

Id say if They're PB banned they should be SOL they got banned and thats their own fault. Think about it if we let people keep comin up here soon enough our forum will be spam after spam about oh i was Pb banned can i be unbanned? Now mind u this is not relating to Obli at all. This is just what is starting to get quite annoying IMO. unless a truthfull reason with proof or in case of an accidental ban. I think if u were PB banned pretty much means u were hacking which in that case u dont deserve to return to our servers.There lol think that rant sums it up.

I disagree with diz and i consider this case different from the others since hes banned was from long ago and he wast a regular on s1 and not just me noticed that and knew him as a legit player

I'm with you Diz. Nothing against Obli or anything but are we not going to hold the rule about being PB banned means you're SOL?

We'll never really know what went down and we have to trust that PB did its job.

All I'm saying is, we're not the ban guys. Either your friend who got that key banned, or the person that sold it to you was a dick and not told you. We'll never know so we have to trust on PB.

a ban from 2-3 years ago compared to a week ago, is still the same thing. A ban from PB. If we start making exceptions now, then we might as well start dropping the PB servers off of our ban lists because we're trusting PB to do its job that it's set up to do. If it didn't do it properly we wouldn't of been using their ban list.

Like I said, are we going to start making exceptions?

Yeah I got your point Wally and unfortunately agree with you too. I just really liked the guy and it sucks this happened, but I sure don't want to start letting people come here and get them unbanned because PB banned them either a day ago or a year ago. This would completely discredit the PB ban lists and would be pointless to keep adding them.

As for Obli, I'm sorry bud hopefully you can get a new game with a new keycode so you can get on and play, it sucks but it looks like the decision has been made. :'(

The decision hasn't been made. I just asked a question.

There are admins to decide, I was just stating my case and I'm sure everyone else will too.

PS. There hasn't been any additional PB adds on our ban lists for the past 2-3 weeks or so. So if he recently played on our servers then his best bet is to just use the keycode that worked then.

Well i agree with what Wally said, but Obli had been a member of the forum and played on s1 plenty of times without so much as a whisper of a hack. It's not as if he played there a couple of times, noticed he was banned, then made an account to protest.

Also, If he is unbanned, we wouldn't be advertising it on a neon sign or anything, so i don't see how how it would draw more people to make requests as well. Even if a couple more do, so what.

I stand with my vote, i say unban.

Now my earlier comment was disregarded lol i said that personally i have no idea who this obli guy is if u guys doubt he hacked then thats a choice personally i dont want to vote because i dont know. All im sayin is that we cant disregard PB for every ban that comes up here. If they were banned from it then theres a pretty good chance they were hacking and just tryin to feed us the bs.

We either have to do away with this punk buster thing or stick to it. I personally dont see how we can ban people that may have hacked on other servers that haven't hacked on ours. We should only be banning people as WE catch them. PB is far from a great program and has too many issues for us to take it too seriously. Just browse thru other forums and there are tons of discussions on how shitty punk buster is and how much it screws up. Maybe we should be using that PB site as a guide on who to spec

i kinda of agree with houston. the first time i ever played an online game i got banned by PB. it was americas army when it came out. i hadnt even played but for a minute and was getting my ass kicked. i dont see how it thought i was hacking. i have never liked punkbuster.

I think PB is a very valuable tool. However all the admins (except for me of course) are all good smart grownups. I think they should be trusted to use their judgment on a situation that they are confident of. If it were a guy that just showed up for a few days and then complained that he was PB banned, I would say keep the ban up. However Obli has played our servers many times. Most of the staff are pretty familiar with him and can vouch for his honesty.

I don't see how lifting one PB ban means that we're breaking some big principle. It's not like we have to treat PB either like a Divinely inspired program or just toss it out the window. We all know it has flaws but we all know it still has it's value. I say in a situation like this we can just use our own judgment and come to an agreement either way, not based on PB. Besides if he was hacking, he'll either stop now or get banned eventually. It won't be the end of the world.
