Hey Mcfoe i saw your post on wanting build help/suggestions. Sounds like you're gonna have quite a machine. Now you say money is no object, but do you have a price range or a max $ amount you would like to spend, because if money is really no object its going to get really pricey as i would go nuts picking out the best of the best. Let me know, then i will start looking at stuff on newegg. WOOT.

Hey guys, is McFoe talking about a bad ass laptop or desktop, I got confused somewhere lol.

I'll also try to put together a build also and see what happens, I wish I had 2 grand to put down on one Lol :p

P.S. If it is a desktop, do you have anything now or do you need everything?, and the same for the laptop also.

Mcfoe do you need a monitor and operating system as well? i can't find the d.wolf post where you outlined what you wanted in the way of things, so if you can with your BB can you refresh me as to what you want, and what you will be using the PC for from most important to least important. I think you said you wanted at least 6gigs of RAM and two 250gb HDDs? Would say a 500gb main HDD and a 250 gb second drive be ok?

Ok disclaimer first for this following post. I am drunk at a bar typing on my blackberry. We are speaking of a desktop here. my asus laptop has been sent to the factory they are gonna fix it or send me a new one. What we are discussingnhere is my desktop build. I've been saving for a few weeks and I'm getting my taxes back and I have cash to burn so.....I'm looking to build. here's what I'm looking for..... Keep in mind I'm drunk on my blackberry.... At least 3.2ghz, preferabbly amd but I will fork out the cashe for an Intel core 5 or greater, 8 gig of ram ddr3 or 2 doesn't matter, dual graphics with at least 1 gig dedicated, either a TB hd partitioned or two hds 250 a piece. One for the OS and the other for storage. Will keep most on externals. Considering an 80 gig ssd for os and 250 to 500 for storage. At least 750 watt power supply and a case thatsbdesigned for cooling. Will liquid cool if have to but prefer a shit load of air cooling. open to all suggestions. But I plan on a killer build to photo document and post step by step here. Again I'm at the bar drunk and luckily I'm in typing mode and BB autocorrect is helping me here. Forgive all jihberish andh grammar/spelllllling errors. Again I miss u guys and can't wait to get back online with yas.

lol pug yes it looks like quite a challenge so I'm glad i'll have help from you and blu, as with his budget there are prob a million different ways to go. I will look for the top of line AMD first, becuase i think it's silly to spend 500 bux on an Intel cpu. SSD are very expensive so i will prob look for dual HDD's to begin with, but will price out SSD as well and see how they fit in. I'm assuming then he needs An OS.Do you have any preference on a specific one Mcfoe, Or is W7 home premium 64 bit ok?

ok i just spent a while a newegg picking out some stuff. Ill post a couple MOBO's, GPU's etc so ppl can give their opinions and maybe you prefer one over the other. I also went with a single very top of the line GPU instead of dual GPU,s but i think you will find the performance about the same with the single. OK ppl dont be afraid to weigh in and bash my build if you think it's shit. I use AMD quad core and the Gigabye ud4 and both have worked great. I also use G.skill DDR3 ram and the antec case. Blu uses one of these cases as well. Great airflow. Both those mobos can support up to 16gb of ram so you can double it if youd like. (Another 105$). Also i threw in a blu ray player in case you wanted one. EDIT i also just posted up one gpu cos its the best of the best. You wont need anything more IMO.

Shopping cart I put in the most expensive stuff to give kind of a max price for everything. Of course you can go with the lesser case and no blu ray player which will decrease your costs. IF you double the ram it will add another 105$ as i said above.

you should be running this case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119213

and running something like this for your windows hard drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136322

would be using this ram over that other stuff
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145265

would have gone for the asus blu-ray over the other one as the asus has fast seek time
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135203

gpu is pretty much the same one i was going to get for my i5 build (which i still might do) the dvd drive is a great drive(thats the same as i run in my every day pc)

Both cases are very good and would offer great airflow. I think it just comes down to more of a personal taste in style and looks as both would do a great job. Personally i would not spend an extra 150$ for a 10000RPM HDD because im not sure the price/performance point is worth all that extra money. As for the blu ray player, i agree with pug as it has a 150 ms faster time. The corsair ram has timings of 8 instead of 9 for the G.skill but is more expensive, so again i think it just comes down to personal taste in brands and what not. All in all though, no matter what you decide to go with, it will be a hell of a machine.
