sweet! welcome to the club. I've been jailbreaking my iPhones since way back in the 1.x OS. lol long-arse time and it's come a long way!

You need a couple sources on Cydia:
http://biteyourapple.com/repo/
http://sinfuliphonerepo.com/
http://cydia.xsellize.com/
http://h7v.org/cydia

Once you've added all sources, you NEED the following:
AppSync for OS 3.1.x (You can search or download it form sinful's repo; all through Cydia)
Installous 3 (from PF's Iphone repo) -- this will let you have all the apps ;)

Once you have the above sources, and what not follw this tutorial to get iPhone Tethering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM_FgLsAFv4

Have fun ;)

http://sinfuliphonerepo.com/ is a source that has been reported for illegal activity. is it still ok to use?

I use all of them that I posted. They're probably ALL gonna have illegal content in it. :)

illegal content = free goodies. ;) You can thank me later. ;)

When I mentioned Cydia Sources, yes you enter them on Cydia. Open Cydia go to Manage>Sources>click Edit button>click Add button>enter the URL of the Cydia Sources I posted above>click add source. Start looking at the sources I posted above and download away. All within Cydia.

Master, I'm assuming you have the unlimited data plan ($30) from AT&T? If not, I wouldn't suggest tethering. But if you do, tether away. I've been tethering since 3.0 came out last year ;D and I've spent $0.00 on tethering ;)

Signup at sinfuliphone.com for a bunch of tutorials. Also, search on YouTube to learn more about cracks and ways to get the stuff for free. Different OS's require different methods of getting the end result. 8)

sweet! Hope you get the tethering working soon. It's awesome knowing I can tether while at work or out of town onto the laptop than having to deal with blocked websites(at work) or paying outrages fees at hotels! :D

Tethering is using ure device's (in this case an iPhone) cellular network to connect you laptop or computer to the Internet with prefrebly no extra charge 8)

Anywho I'm just now browsing installitous and cyinda and looking at all these awsome apps, you guys recommend any apps that you think might be useful?

if you are on iPhone 3G, i suggest backgrounder. It enables multitasking on ur 3G

if you jailbreak your iPhone with redsnow, it allows you to use iOS4's multitasking feature. It's a bit slow if you have a few apps open and don't close them but it works.

Also, in order to get the (downloaded) apps synced up from iTunes you need AppSync on your iPhone. They wont work without it.

I heard it should be ok if you don't use it too much, but i haven't seen any Internet stories of AT&T actually charging people so I don't worry about it :p

I say, as long as you don't go downloading music videos, watching youtube, etc. stuff that uses a lot of bandwidth then you should be under the radar. Do any of the above and you'll raise red flags :p
