Mac Kernel Panics and Random Restarts...

I keep having this problem with my mac, even after I took it to the Apple store. They had it for a week, told me it just needed a simple firmware update and I got it back.

Started playing with it at work this morning and it lasted almost 5 hours before the panic happened again. I managed to get the report this time and will post it just incase someone can interpret it for me.

I've heard some people have fixed the issue by simply removing Java, but I need Java...

Anonymous UUID: I think this is important so I won't post it.

So, my antivirus is at fault here?

I knew Norton was a clunky, power-hungry monster but didn't know it could cause issues like that.

What would you recommend I replace my AV with?

Bitdefender, I've been using it for about 10 years. When it comes to an antivirus, you really get what you pay for. Of all the AV's I've tested and used (many), Bitdefender impacts performance absolutely the least whilst giving the highest performance and protection.

It's $40/year for a single Mac, so it's a bit more than others, but as I said, you get what you pay for. The best antivirus is always an informed user, but it's wise to have a backup plan, especially on the web where you'll never see it coming.

Antivirus software? on mac?
It took me 15 minutes to design a malicious algorithm for Mac. It worked, too.
Mac is just as vulnerable as a PC. It's really the user that is vulnerable more than the operating system. You can have a rock solid computer system, but if some bozo runs a malicious program, you are screwed.

Do you know anything that's good and free? I don't have the cash to shell out $500/year on my $2500 macbook.

That and I find subscription-based software to be a waste of money as you can throw $10,000 at the program and never own it at all.

Oh crap, it's $40/year, sorry. Well, it's more like hiring in the case of an antivirus because if it's not under constant revision and upgrading, it will be out of date in a matter of weeks.

I don't know squat about the error codes.

As for the antivirus, I click on all kinds of links on my Mac. Just so long as you know what you're installing, you'll be safe. This goes for Windows as well but for some reason I just feel much safer running an anti virus on Windows XD.
