Why can't it just be, here's the freaking list of candidates, pick one.
Yeah, the political establishment has really taken over. I hate the way the electoral college is set up also.
[DOUBLEPOST=1443295742][/DOUBLEPOST]I think a few of Bernie Sanders ideas are compatible with common sense, i.e. his efforts for female pay equality, getting rid of trade agreements with China, but his underlying views on issues like taxation and minimum wages aren't correct IMO. This taken from his website---
AS PRESIDENT, SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS WILL REDUCE INCOME AND WEALTH INEQUALITY BY:
- Demanding that the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share in taxes. As president, Sen. Sanders will stop corporations from shifting their profits and jobs overseas to avoid paying U.S. income taxes. He will create a progressive estate tax on the top 0.3 percent of Americans who inherit more than $3.5 million. He will also enact a tax on Wall Street speculators who caused millions of Americans to lose their jobs, homes, and life savings.
- Increasing the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour by 2020. In the year 2015, no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty.
In an interview with CNBC, he said in response to,
"It was 90. (speaking of percentage tax against wealthy) When you think about 90 percent, you don't think that's obviously too high?
Sanders replied, "No. What I think we've seen, and what frightens me again, when you have the top one-tenth of 1 percent owning almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. Does anybody think that that is the kind of economy this country should have?"
Now I understand that Sanders is not a full blown socialist, but socialistic policies are dangerous. For instance, let's take a look at Joe Bling Bling. Joe Bling Bling is really, really rich. He worked hard to make money selling gold chains for a 7,000% markup. Then Sanders comes along and says, "Hey that's not fair! Frank works just as hard as you, but he's not as rich." So Sanders takes some of Joe Bling Bling's money and gives it to Frank. Now a no win situation has been created. Frank doesn't feel the need to continue working hard, because Joe Bling Bling will provide for him right? And Joe Bling Bling doesn't feel the need to sell his chains at 7000% markup because he knows his money's going to go to Frank. Now you have an unsustainable system, where there is no incentive for work.
DISCLAIMER: In a perfect world, socialism would work, and I would be all for it. Joe and Frank would both joyfully work to provide for each other. However, I think most of us can agree that the world we live in, and our human nature is not perfect.
Toodloo... I'm off to work at a grocery store to work for minimum wage.
