Random Lockup

Ok, I have Windows 7 Pro x64 and this random lockup that likes to show up. The computer completely freezes, audio goes into a digitized-sounding loop, and I have to do a hard shutdown. It happens whenever I use run something internet-intensive. It freezes when I play MW, try to run the downloader/updater for NFS World, run any p2p, stuff like that. I tried updating my network driver but it still freezes. I have an Atheros AR9285.

If I let it sit and download it works, but if I get on youtube or listen to music it locks. Music/Youtube work fine on their own.

Any one else have any problems/solutions of the sort?

thx

Not one bit. I'll dig up for some info tomorrow while at work.

So far, what have you tried? Updating drivers? Reformatted?

It sounds like it could be a hardware issue. But thats just me. I would take the following steps and hopefully you can prove me wrong.

Reinstall video, and audio drivers
run CCleaner

If that does nothing, do a fresh install of windows. If problem continues, it is most definitely a hardware problem.

I have tried the drivers and I run CCleaner regularly. Somehow I never really picked up on this but a few programs hang if they don't crash entirely. I wonder if I have a few corrupt files in Windows? Virus scans don't pick up on anything.

When MW crashed I checked the log and I got: Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\USER32.dll

I'd like to help but i have no idea. Try posting in some well known tech forums. You can then show them w/e logs they as for etc. Those forums can be quite helpful.
