I can only hope that this turns into a fad because then all my favorite sensationalist artists will be voluntarily getting puked on for my pleasure.

Nope. THIS is the most pretentious display of so-called art, and it is pretty much the best metaphor for the entire music industry surrounding artists like this I know about, especially since it actually happened WITHIN that industry.
Why is it pretentious? Because it's sold to you as groundbreaking music/art, and it is sold in a way that tells you it is different and that liking it makes you different. That you are special because this music speaks to you. Well here you are, cheering for someone getting puked on while they are scissoring, and you are a "little monster" (that's probably copyrighted, btw.... someone is making money off that shit) just waiting to be set free.
Mayhaps fans of this really do need to get puked on. To set them free. Or because art. Or whatever the fuck pretentious reason they latch on to that is really created by the industry itself, in the first place.
So not only does puke-bitch get a stage to get puked on with people cheering for her, she gets to be a the youngest speaker at SxSw ever? I'm not a huge fan of "indie" music, but I hope you can see the inherent problems here with Lady Gaga being the central figure at an indie music festival.
The whole affair makes me think that the music industry was publicly cock-smacking the little guys in the face with this one. Taking over a so-called independent music expose with pure shock-value, no talent, act, in which someone ACTUALLY gets puked on TWICE and basically has sex on top of a mechanical bull.
