Steam is on PS4, as well, right? That means steam sales on PS4. I would say if you're just going for a gaming system, PS4 is probably a better option than XBOX. Xbox is meant to be connected to your whole house with mics in different rooms connected to TV's and audio systems so you can voice control music, movies, TV, from wherever you are.
Not only that, but xbox will be pushing for their developers to put a lot of time into mixing their games in at least 5.1 discreet channels, something that is almost never done for games (most of the time, they use some kind of algorithm, like pro logic or NEO6, as far as I know).
Definitely geared more towards people who have money for a bunch of TV's and nice speaker systems house-wide. Looking at the graphics comparison Kruebs posted a while ago, xbox kinda sucks compared to pc, even at launch.
