I am installing TWO dual wire speakers into the headrest of my chair. I have no clue if I can just Cut a 3.5mm Headphone jack and wire them both to the speaker or if I somehow require more power.
If I require a amp, how many watts will I need? (If I need an amp, I wish for it to be pretty small.)
I will post picture up later of my designs later.

The back of the speakers say . "VEC P1245BF - 14oC 5-10W 4Ω"

Found a possbile fix, An old and portable (or 9v powerpoint connection) guitar amp.

Are they the only two speakers? Or are you using them with other speakers.

Are you using them in stereo?

With 4 ohm speakers if you wire them in parallel with another speaker, you can blow up the final stage of whatever is driving them (2 x 4 ohm speakers will be like 2 ohms which is bad).

The headphone, or line out on the PC won't drive a speaker with enough volume to use. It'll need some sort of amp.

Send a pic of the speakers. You can use pretty much any wire, as long as it's a copper conductor. It just depends how you attach it. If they have 2 binding posts, I'd definitely recommend.... bindind some wire to them XD. Just make sure you don't cross the wires. Make sure + is + and - is -, too. Messing that up will just make them sound bad (out of phase).

So they are 4 Ohm speakers, which means you need to have an amp that can handle 4 Ohm loads, but since they are so small and such low wattage, it looks like they had their own amp at one point (i.e they were part of a boom box or pc speaker setup). You should look for that. And yes they need an amp.

I am thinking you really should like buy new speakers for this deal, dude. That way you can get the right shape and sound. Plus, those speakers are probably not made for listening to right next to your ear. This is why headphones manufacture is different than near-field and far-field listenning speakers. They make speakers for chairs, btw.

Just some advice. I await the finished project excitedly.

I blew the guitar amp I had.
I hooked up the 9v battery originally used to power it up on the go for small amounts of times. Pumping through 0.3v to the lines for the speakers.
Plugged in the 9v wall adapter in the front 9v power point of the amp. pumped more than last time, but still not enough. 0.8v
Snip snip to the 9v plug and hooked it up to a molex connection. Had the volt meter hooked up to it. ssssssss. a 25v resistor started smoking and blew pretty much instantly.

Ill take some photos tonight of the back of the speakers. The speakers were in a black box, which were hooked up to a stereo with bare wires.
I had all the holes in my chair done :\ No clue what to do now :S

You will probably be able to find something similar that you can stick in the holes and then fill with expanding insulation. The speakers are by themselves? Because you need to keep in mind that however you cut the holes and however much space you have behind them (as well as the shape of the space and the material) are going to have serious impact on how the speakers sound. You're basically sticking them in an enclosure. (i'm assuming they don't have enclosures of their own? I'm picturing you just pulled out two 2" drivers from something)

Yeah, I pulled them out of old two wire speakers I had lying around. Inside the chair is foam and a wood panel behind a thin layer of it. I was thinking about filling it with some spray foam, but not too much, just to make it less fire prone :p

Also, the whole amp is broken so I need to buy/scavange for a new one. Any suggestions for Two x 4 Ohm speakers?

Dude I have NO idea what amp you should get. I would think about making little enclosures for the speakers though. There should be some models you can look at online for like easy wood ones. It'll really help the bass response. Plus, like you said, it'll make it less fire prone. would also be a fun project maybe.

You should put a 15'' car sub in the ass of the chair

Chicks would LOVE that shit :iykwim:

Buy a cheap set of computer speakers for $15 and attach them to your chair. They'll have a built in amp and will connect straight to your line out

Put a subwoofer in the seat so you can feel the explosions. :troll2:

wut wuuuuuuttt

The enclosure will be important. What will you use to cover the wood? This is a big selling point for some speakers.

yes but its also important what you make it out of, the size of the enclosure, if your going ported or not and sealing it up well

He will have to make it ported. I would do forward facing. The enclosures will be too small not to. They are also small. Needs porting for smoother bass response.
