Test: Temporary Minecraft IP

Due to the issues we've been having as of late with our current host, I moved the MC server to my home server. I wanted to see how the mini server holds up to hosting it at home (in LA) prior to making the jump to my Arizona home sometime this year. My home server has 8gigs of RAM but I have dedicated 2gigs for MC as a starter.

Please let me know if there are any issues.

MC Home IP: 76.169.67.204

I would like to test it about a week or two and see how it holds up. If there aren't may issues/complaints, I'll host it on that server for the time being.

I will also be stress testing my home server and network by running cod4 (AFK) and a few other apps (not many) that I usually run for my home entertainment.

Server specs:
2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
8 gigs RAM (2 gigs allocated to MC)
64GB Flash Drive (server should run cooler)

Thoughts?

PS. In the next few days, the server will be restarted every so often as I have to configure it to run my personal domain and other goodies. I'll send a message through the console.

Sounds kinda like my computer, and I can easily run a bukkit mc server with shit tons of plugins up to 6gbs, and be fine.

I can connect but I'm getting some lag while while playing, I dont think its me cause I dont lagg on other MC servers.

We were experiencing lag in the home server last night because of the humongous pyramid I spawned

Other than that, it's been solid. I can't really comment on it though since I'm close to it... So far, I haven't heard any issues besides yours.

I had no consistent lag at all today or last night after the 1000000000000000000000000000000 block pyramid was deleted.

Once in awhile it will spike for a second, but that's it. No reappearing blocks or anything anymore.

Mine works fine , no lag until I lag out. But nothing too horrible.

With all of this extra RAM, could we add Essentials? We could change the server spawn so that all new people would start in the same place. We could add some server information and the rules for everyone to see.

It runs very well for me, except for occasional stuttering because of distance, I have seen a huge performance boost in load times.

How's the server so far?

I still haven't finished configuring some of the server stuff, so you will see some reboots here and there. I do however try to give a heads up with a server message.

Some of the things I will be installing, or at least try to:
-McMyAdmin
-Essentials
-Possibly dedicate another gig of RAM to MC

The server runs a bit hotter than I'd like it to but that's because I have cod4 running in the background (AFK), so for now, that'll be off. Server runs very cool with only MC running.

There have been some issues with gametracker, so if the banner says the server is down, there are good chances (99%) the server is running either way. The only issues that may arise if the server ever goes down is my Internet.

Lastly, if for the most part MC server runs well for just about everyone now that I have it at home, I would like to cancel my subscription with our MC host. Thoughts?

I just have a delay, which I can live with, and little to no lag It runs quite well for me, the loading is fast and smooth and there is no more 5-10 second delay after entering my password. :twothumbsup:

I played an hour or so today. Ran like any other server. In terms of improvement though the spawn needs a clean up and essentials and group manager should be a must have on the server as well as /rules.
