Check this TV out: http://www.vizio.com/flat-panel-hdtvs/vm230xvt.html

Saw it at Walmart this past weekend and man, it's perfect!! I'm in the market to buy a new TV but I want either a 26" or 27". I currently have a 22" widescreen and a 19", both Dell monitors which I plan to sell to help pay for my new TV.

I was initially looking at a 26" HDTV LCD by Samsung for about 400ish but after seeing this beauty, I'm either gonna wait to see if they come out with a 26" soon or just pull the trigger now and get the 23".

Whatcha think?

DO NOT REPEAT NOT GET VIZIO. My niece got one and they had to send it back five diff times cos vizio kept sending them refurbished ones. I would suggest spending a bit more money and getting something that will last for years. It will be well worth it in the long run. I'll post some deals in a while.

What the heck is up with LCD LED? I thought it was either one or the other. I almost bought the thing but that confused me about it and I wanted more info about it.

My budget: $400ish.

LCD's this year feature the LED backlight and they are way out of the 400$ range so you probably don't need to worry about it. I'll Look around for you a bit. The best LCD models are samsung's IMO.

I'm actually upgrading 1" so I kinda didn't want to buy it just for 1". Upgrading to 26", I'd pull the trigger asap!

Do you want 1080p or is 720p ok? For 32 inches and under i've read it really doesn't matter but still 1080p is awesome.

Samsung is the best. They have really good backlights. I have a 40" Samsung touch of color LCD. Its 1080p with the 120hz motion capture plus. Its going to be my monitor when I build a PC and I buy the new 65" Samsung series 6 LCD. woot woot!

Well I thought about the same thing with Samsung but... My Dad got a Samsung LN-T4061F, and shortly after the 1 year warranty was up it started messing up. It was when the tv was cold (sitting over night) and when it was turned on it the next day it would click several times before the screen would show a picture, this continued until the time was at least 5 mins that it would do this! I did a search on google and found many people had problems with bad capacitors in the PCB board in the back of the unit.

So what did we do since the warranty was out, bought new capacitors with a higher voltage specs (recommended by the guru that changed his) and I took the back panel off the TV, took the board out and soldered in the new caps, and to this day everything is good (BTW the ruin caps had a bulge in the center of them and was leaking ooze, this is why we thought they were bad). It still sometimes will turn off in the middle of the day for now apparent reason, not sure on that one (but it comes back on). The only other thing I have noticed is that there is a black line that runs down the left side of the screen, and I'm guessing this is because of watching lots of tv in standard def on a digital channel (black bars on the left and right sides).

My conclusion, I think samsung has one if not the best looking "pictures" in the market but reliability wise I am unsure. I have looked at many big screens (50 in and up) for home use and found that I will be buying either a Samsung or Toshiba, Samsungs have better black detail than Toshiba but Toshiba may have better quality, just wanted to inform you guys about this, good luck shopping :D

P.S. This may also be just a model issue, not all of them.

I have the same tv. It's a Samsung B series touch of color. The 120hz is awesome for sports , not so much for everything else as it makes it look a little too realistic and film like,so i set mine on custom for everything but sports. I also use the dynamic setting as i like the brightness of it. I would also highly recommend samsung over toshiba for LCD's. The link is the tv i have BTW.

The 50" Samsung plasma we have has given us no problem (knocks on wood) and in July it'll be 2 years since we bought it.

I'll gladly jump onto another Sammy if the time comes. ;D

PS. I'm not exactly sure what model mine is and I'm too lazy to look lol
