Pick me a tablet

Primarily i was looking for just an e-reader, but it seems most tablets have pretty good e-readers so i decided to go that route.

Galaxy 2
Nexus 7.

I'd rather not hear, they are Android, Apple rules and all that bs.

I've read fire is very good but suffers from wi-fi problems and issues where many people had to return them for new ones.

Nexus looks awesome but I've read many apps aren't compatible, no flash player and limited storage.

Don't know much about Galaxy 2.

Any help is appreciated. I'm not so much concerned about pure specs etc , but how it performs in actual use etc.

EDIT: I took out Kindle fire b/c it seems its not nearly as good as the others.

Go to Best Buy and see how you personally like each one of them.

I have the new iPad and also looking into adding some eBooks/Audibooks. Will let you know once I give it a whirl.

FYI, iPad mini should be mentioned in next month's event.

Nexus 7 all the way. Knowing you and your preferences the Nexus 7 would be perfect. Especially for $199 price point. And it comes running Android 4.1 Jelly bean which is super fast and smooth thanks to "Project butter" as google calls it. I would say this is the best route. The iPad would be too closed down for your needs.

I've hear very good things about both. But I hear also that the Nexus is better.
I have actually only used an iPad though so don't take my word on it lol.

And WaLLy wouldn't the "iPad Mini" just be an iPod Touch?

I think you are an Android whore.

Nexus is better as a tablet, i don't think there is any question about that. Kindle fire 2 hasn't even shipped yet, so saying it sucks is a bit premature , IMO.

My priority is an E-reader and with Amazon Prime Kindle HD is looking pretty good. If i needed a full on tablet that had total flexibility it would be a different story.

Also the screen issues and other problems coming out with Nexus really turned me off. If it wasn't for those i most likely would have went with it.

Android whore? Dee, Kindle runs on android. derp. It is just like the old one but more ram and more processing power. It has a dual core in it now. That's all that changed.

Nexus just has too many build quality issues which is a shame. If it wasn't for those I'd already have bought it.

Haha, i was just going to ask Joe what he thought of the Galaxy 2.

I really hate being limited on the FIRE to just using Amazons content and limited app's when the NEXUS has all that and much more, but if the damn thing stops working, gets dead pixels, screen seperation etc and i have to return it..... then it's obviously no good for anything. Seems every third or fourth review i read people have had to send it back. The reviews for the Galaxy 2 have been mostly good.

Nevermind, thats not the Sammy tab i was looking at. Your's links to the Galaxy note.

Thats the one.

Thoughts on Blackberry playbook?

Playbook is a decent tablet. little to no apps though. Which is a shame, it had potential. Out of all of them I would still recommend the 7. The worst that happens is you send it back, get it exchanged or get your money back. I think it will be alright though. Reason I am so hard on recommending the 7 is because I have used just about all of them at least once. The 7 is just unbeatable. I would even pick it over some of the more expensive units. It just works... really really fast. Freakin zips past all apps. All e-readers. Movies. Games. Everything. That Quad core + Android 4.1 Jelly bean just make it a super smooth experience. My friend just downloads PDFs from the internet and reads them on there for free lol.

If you want to go cheaper and still be free from amazon's crap here is a new tablet coming out. Runs Jelly bean, 7 inch, 139 dollars.
