Sorry, I was not sure what thread this would go in but I suppose I'll just post this here.

At the moment I am saving for a car, but I am willing to spend at least 1k now on building a computer. I think it is time to get away from manufacturers and start going on my own rig. As for what I am looking for, I am hoping to have ATI graphics cards and from what I know or believe, I think I would also need AMD to run ATI. I'm looking for maybe 8GB DDR3 RAM unless there is a DDR4 but I don't know about that. As for a graphic power, is 1GB dedicated to that good enough or should more be needed if I want to run most recent games on maximum?

As for processing power, I'm hoping maybe 3.6GHz is good enough.

If anyone can help it would be great, I'm hoping to get this rig up and running withing the next 6 months. I'm tired of having a piece of shit laptop that can barely run CoD4 or even BF2.

Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone helping.

Well for one, you can get a bad ass PC for 1K lol, and IMO building it yourself is the best way to go anyways. About ATI using AMD processors, that's not really true. I have an Intel CPU and ATI graphics and they both work perfectly together, never had any problems with them. I guess with the RAM it depends on what you plan on doing with your PC, if your going to be doing a LOT of multi-tasking then 8 should be fine, with me I have 4GB and that is just fine for what I run but as of now how cheap RAM is, probably better to just go with 8GB. The same goes with processing power, it depends on what you want to use it for, mine is a 2.66 GHz quad core and it does fine with that. Now if you want to do say video encoding or something of the sort a faster CPU would be better, but for gaming I think that mainly relies on the GPU speed not CPU.

Not sure if that really helped you out but figured I would let you know what I thought, tell us a bit more on what you plan on doing with it and we can get more specific ;)

Joe knows a lot more about hardware and stuff than i do so i would talk to him , but i took a shot XD.

You guys all fucking rock.

And the reason I though you needed AMD and ATI together is because of what has happened in the past with other PCs I tried to upgrade a bit.

Anyways, thanks for all the help, though!!!! I definitely am looking to start running a "state-of-the-art" PC with a lot of power. The reason I want that power is for future gaming since I never know just WHERE it might lead us too.

Plus, I hear Crysis looks nicer with a strongly built PC :D
