been in the USA now for 2 days, and mobile connectivity is failing hard.

It appears that prepaid voice and data in Australia is way ahead of the USA.

I took four phones. Qantas screwed me in flight and didn't supply my international sim cards I pre ordered. My wife's phone didn't want to roam. One phone won't connect to USA network, and you can't even buy a prepaid data plan for a micro sim. So I have one phone that is on the network, with no data, and this shitty hotel wifi.

It will be at least 2 days until I can get near an AT&T store.

It may be weeks before I am back online.

Oh yeah, funnily enough, I expected the USA to be full of Americans , but so far, in Los Angeles at least, it's full of dudes that speak Spanish or some shit.

If you want to meet English speaking Americans then LA ain't the place to go lol, LA from what I know has a HUGE variety of people from all over the world. I would like to go visit there sometime like with New York but there's no way I would live in either city, way to compact and people for me.

i love it when people in Australia or America complain about immigrants, when not a few hundred years ago we came as immigrants to these countries, but instead of having a genuine reason for escaping dangers we just came to rape and pillage and expand our horizons. next time you go to complain abot people coming into 'your' country, think, atleast they dont come without warning, wipe out the indigenous population and then clain it as their own and make the rest of the natives live as second rate citizens.

My grandfather came here from Armenia illegally on a boat to escape the violence etc. there and landed in San Francisco. He was able to buy a house, get a good job, marry and start a good family. I see Americans all the time complain about freedoms being taken, yet they have no problem denying people from other countries the ultimate freedom of all, the right to a good life.

I find situations in Australia abit different to those in America.
Illegal immigrants travel by boat (Some succeed, some need to be rescued by our Navy) and waltz into Australia thinking that they deserve a "Fair Go".
They get transferred from Christmas Island into houses which tax payers pay for meanwhile HOMELESS Australian citizens/immigrants who came through customs, paid for their flight/passport/visa etc., are told to stay out in the street while Illegal immigrants get to live in a 5 fucking star hotel.

I dont know if situations are any different in America, but thats why Australia "compains" about immigrants.

actually, where we are at least, there's bugger all Asians. If you want to see Asians you go to either Asia, or Sydney.

I don't have a problem with them by the way. Asians or Mexicans. Most everyone is pretty friendly. I just thought it weird that public address announcements are bilingual.

I now have my Nokia worked out with an at and t data card so I can tether my other devices to it. Still slow as shit though. Back home our mobile net is faster than dsl.
