Appropriate/Inappropriate Names

I was on ROTU today when a player joined the server with the name "LegoMyNegro".
It struck me as off and I personally would have asked him to change his name, but I didn't know if it was meant to be racist.
I asked in shout, but unfortunately I could not wait for an answer and had to go.

So what is too far in terms of names?

If they aren't permitted to say it it probably souldn't be used in a name.

But don't get too carried away, sometimes people are just being funny and not meaning to be offensive.

If it was me I would have told him to change his name to warn him, and if he didn't I would have kicked him. I see it as a racist term and from what I know we don't allow that here, easy as that for me

Honestly I probably wouldn't have said anything, I mean Negro.. that's not really offensive to me at all, but that's just me. I trust the other mods to use their own judgement. Now if it was for example, Biggermy♥♥♥♥♥♥ or something like that, I would have asked for them to change it for sure then.. if they didn't, simply a kick to start with. See how it goes from there and use my own judgement as an experienced mod.

I agree with Brian here, it's all a matter of the mod, and using your own personal judgement, a name like that may not be offensive to one, but if it IS offensive to anyone at the time, then it needs to be changed.

Yeah Dude, when I ask people to change their name I'm always nice about it unless they start the shit talk, that's a different story of course

I saw a dude named "Anders Breijvik" on S1 a while back. He said it was his real name, started droppin' the N-bomb etc.
