I just got this Ibanez MTM2 for my Bday. I am not a Mick Thompson/ Slipknot fanboy. What attracted me to this guitar is the simplicity and sophistaction that are combined in this model. Simple in that has no tremolo, just 2 pups, a 3 way switch and volume. I also like that the volume knob is far from the pup. No tone knob or unecessary knobs or gadgets. The sophistication comes in the use of a locking nut and bridge with fine tuners. It's basically a tremolo sans trem. It looks like one but doesn't act like one. The benefit to this design is in tuning stability. Once you tune th guitar and lock the nut all you need is to fine tune it at the bridge and you're done. You can riff rape this beast all you want and if it ever comes out of tune (which would only be slightly) just tweek it with the fine tuners and go back to thrashing it. Though I am not a fan of finished necks the profile and radius on it make it very playable and the fret access is amazing. The neck joint and the shape of the neck where it bolts to the body have a unique transition which gives it a smooth feel. I still need to set it up and see if the new Duncan active pups are worth keeping. If I do not like them, out they will go (shipped to DamageINC for use as paper weights). Anyway, a few pics...........
The rough looking guitar is something I made. It actually has very high end parts/hardware. Looks are deceiving as there is over $1000 in that guitar.
