Old school hip hop..... before songs got hits based on how much money the joke-ass emcee can get put in his youtube video. Before you could lay anything down and get your producers to autotune you and make your "beats" sound decent. Before every ****** could afford Reason and a bunch of punk-ass midi packs. Before the big corporate world got their slimy hands on these people, they made real music. People like Lil' Wayne will never have SHIT on real poets and musicmakers. Post your favorite hip hop here

I dont think Tech 9 is old school but...

For me Old school hip-hop music cover the period between 1983-1996. I dk how hip-hop grew in US but after 1996, french hip-hop became the most powerful commercial machine in france, with a new rapper everyday. Most of famous HH french artists became producers and started to release a commercial HH. Some of french DJ even became well known stars of the "French touch", wich was electro and not HH anymore, in the same time some french group tried to turn back to origins like Gran Master Flash or Sugar hill gang, bringing 8bit electro sound in their music (for me the shittiest period of french rap)...

Anyway, you cant talk about old school hip hop without mentionning these two...
