About my grand daughter

So, my grand daughter is gonna be here in about 2-3 months. My dear darling daughter has decided to name her after my ex wife (my daughter's mother). Obviously i said it's her daughter, and her choice, but i have decided to call the little one dave (in england it's a sort of generic name, everybody knows someone called dave).

Just thought i'd throw the info out there and see what people thought about it. My daughter isn't too happy, especially when i keep referring to baby as dave.

At least find her a female nickname...and remember that one day you'll probably need to explain to little one why you dont call her with her right name. As a child i was proud of my firstname and didn't like at all when ppl called me with nickname (now its different^^) and even more with another firstname. So like Houston said

Well, if it wasn't motivated by your dislike for your ex, I'd say that's a cute little nickname for the grandkid.

So...... just make sure you don't let any personal feelings get involved and it shouldn't matter. ANd to be honest, plenty of grandparents have stupid little nick-names for their kids. And your daughter is going to have a stick up her ass about it, anyway, because it's her kid and she thinks the name she picked out is all pretty and she has all these hopes and dreams.... blah blah blah, and somehow you calling her kid dave is going to ruin that.

I say just call her dave for fun, because it's funny, and not because of the ex problems. And get everyone to the doctors quickly so they can all get the sticks out of their asses.

It's also just a name... remember your ex problems are simply that... EX problems. Your daughter has a right to have feelings for the person she lived in for 9 months. You should respect that, and then go ahead and call the kid "Dave" anyway, just cuz it's funny.
