Can someone explain what illegal downloading/uploading has anything to do with freedom? :wtfderp:

Either way, I'm down. I'll go to the cinema on Feb. 29th and April 1st XD

It's not specifically our "freedom" that I think your talking about, I was referring to internet freedom ;)

I'm sure you have heard of Megaupload being taken down because of BEING accused of pirating and distribution of software? (no proof just they "say" you did it). This is what I'm talking about, they have taken down that website outside of this law which I'm sure is illegal by itself, imagine what can be done with these bills if they are passed...

Megaupload was taken down via order of a US district court. They are under indictment for money laundering and racketeering, as well as copyright infringement. They conducted raids in New Zealand to arrest the founder. This isn't done without proof and because someone just "said so". That's ludicrous.

To also say they have illegally taken a website down, conducted raids involving foreign agency's and indicted the defendants via a federal grand jury is incredibly preposterous. Of course it was done outside of SOPA since SOPA hasn't been passed into law as far as i know. I'm sure the timing of these raids and seizures was no coincidence, but within the framework of the laws itself, it's independent of sopa. They didn't need to do some end dance around SOPA and find loopholes.

I don't agree with Megaupload being taken down because there are a lot more important things to police and take care of in the country, but saying they had no "proof" and illegally took down Megaupload is ridiculous. The fact is they did break the law.

These cases will most likely go to Federal court and be under heavy media scrutiny. The Governments case will have to stand up to that scrutiny and be infallible.

Your right once again damage, that's ludicrous as you say and I'm wrong, hope that makes you feel better...

Our free speech and what we do is that, free and will always be that way no matter what happens! It's not like the Gov can control what we do or what we say, that in itself is impossible and will never happen, well here in the USSA anyways.

I didn't state anyone was wrong or that i was right. All i did was state my opinion. It was neither right nor wrong, it was just an opinion. I don't see why you get so defensive when someone states an opinion that differs from yours. Has nothing to do with right or wrong.

Having free speech does not mean having free speech without consequences.

Another opinion is this. Calling the United States a socialist country is also highly ludicrous. Travel around the world a bit and visit some third wold countries, you'll see how much you have to be thankful for here.

No need to get your back up all the time.

Companies want us to stop downloading music...pay the artist as his right salary.
Companies want us to stop downloading movies...stop charging 7.50-10.00€ for a movie in theater..or 25€ for a single DVD especially for the majority of shitty movies that goes out now
Companies want us to stop downloading Tv show...make them available for free with ads after they showed on TV or sell them at fair price. DVD box, 80€ for a season is abusive imo
Companies want us to stop downloading Video Games...stop treating players like milk cow (i got a long chapter on why stop spending money for games)

Granted they are overpriced, but we still have a choice to buy them or not. There are also a lot of costs that go into making the music and movies and tv shows we so covet. If prices were lowered that drastically, so would be the quality. Many TV shows are also available for free on network websites.

Having said that, there is obviously no doubt they want to monopolize the market and charge top dollar, but at the same time they wouldn't or couldn't do that if people were not out there lining up and paying whats told to them to pay. Video games are 60$ because MW3 makes a billion in 16 days. If you're a gaming company why WOULDN'T you charge that much if people are willing to buy it in such high numbers? If the people are willing to be Milk cows as you say, why not let them? That's just good business.

IMO, people aren't willing to sacrifice these things in order to bring about real change, myself included.

FINALLY!!! I have a chance to wear my V for Vendetta mask in PUBLIC!!!!!!
I wouldn't do that master clip, I've seen people get randomly swarmed by cops in public when they put them on but I do support the right to protest against censoring the internet, It's violating 1st amendment rights
