Rick Perry trash talks "gays" in the military, implying that they should not be able to serve and be openly gay. His quote "I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a christian, but you don't need to be in pue every Sunday to know that theres something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas." How about instead of calling them "gays" you call them what they are. Hard working Americans just like the rest of us.

I say he should be thrown out of the campaign for not only discriminating against homosexuals but also because he trash talks people who give their lives to keep our country safe. A gay man in the military, who risks his life to keep us safe, does so much more than an idiot politician who trash talks another politician just because they want the same thing. I am extremely offended by this because some of my best friends are in fact homosexual.

Thoughts on this?

Or he is implying that we all should be able to openly celebrate christmas... Instead of gays shouldn't be in the military.

Fuck this guy. There's nothing wrong with gay people serving in the military. What makes them so much different from everyone else. GOD DAMMIT! People like this infuriate me. If you hate him you'll sure as hell hate Michele Bachmann too. She's a lying heffer who contradicts herself and says that gays only have the right to marry if they are going to marry a person of the opposite sex.

I want a President who doesn't fucking discriminate because of someones choice in their sexual partner. It does NOTHING to hurt this country. And if he wants to be able to pray in schools and everything else, then I want to be able to say I'm gay in school and not get harassed and get into fights every other week. This is BS.

Nick I'm with you on this one. I hate this guy.

I don't think Perry needs to be thrown out of the race, I think he's toast anyways. If you have been keeping up with the debates so far his ratings have gone down hill very quickly and... well I don't think he has a chance at all now.

P.S. And yes, I agree Perry is a douche but I can also say the same thing about the majority of the rest of them as well.

I don't know much about him, or anything really, but it's unfair to condemn and hate the man himself for his political stance, IMO. I think most politicians in these cases pick certain stances on major issues because they think it will win them a large % of votes. In many cases, i would venture to say what they stand for and preach about publicly would differ from what they believe personally. Is it the case here? Who knows. But politicians will say or do anything and stand up for or back most any cause to get elected, IMO.

Ultimately these kinds of views and the statements he's made are done so for only one reason, because the data he receives shows that a certain %, probably quite a large % of Christians etc. are anti gay and believe this way and would therefore back this stance and vote for him. Ultimately it's not the politician who's always responsible or deserving of the hate or blame, it's the people, because the people are the ones who have these beliefs in the first place, which in turn causes a politician to choose this or any other controversial platform to back to get votes.

As i said, i don't know much about him and i think it's shameful how these politicians conduct themselves and make hateful statements like the one quoted, but ultimately i think they are just playing on peoples prejudices, ignorance, hate etc etc. Responsibility of course rests with him for what he said, but i think it equally rests on the small minded, ignorant and hateful masses this country seems to be full of.

You've got a very good point D. My only thing is, I can't hate everyone with these fews, and for him to publicly say things like that, and with the knowledge that if he were to be elected president those things would be expected from it, I just can't stand it.

Regardless of whether he hates gays or not. This is a good example of why when someone gets elected everybody goes :wtfderp: They say all of these things, and make promises based off of what is going to get them votes. Once they are elected... They show their true colors.

Rick Perry is a moron.

he appeals to a group of people who make irrational unrealistic decisions and have nonfunctional unrealistic views.

Rick perry would have us be a theocracy. Are you fkin' kidding me? That ALONE is enough to scare me.

I agree with what Slaya said. I don't think he was actually bashing gay people or anything, but merely making a comparison. Now the way he did it.. that's a problem. But it seemed to me that what he was saying is that gays can server in the military (which I have no problem with btw) but we can't celebrate Christmas in schools anymore.

Hell lots of schools you don't/can't even sing that national anthem anymore because they're afraid it might "offend" someone. Way I see it let them get offended, THIS IS AMERICA!!! If they're afraid of being offended or not being politically correct, move to another fckin country where you will be.

P.S. I don't think him either and I agree with Blu that he's going to take himself down. I don't see any chance of him being elected anyways.

I thought it was the pledge of allegiance that wasn't allowed to be said in schools, which i happen to agree with. I don't believe in God and i dont need some teacher telling me to pledge allegiance to anything or any god. In the case of schools these days so many races, religions etc are present i don't see a problem with being a bit careful and not making someone feel bad b/c of their beliefs.

Actually, I think mostly it's just that schools can't force kids to sing the national anthem. That decision was made for lots of reasons, not just the words "under god." A big one is simply that lots of kids do not feel comfortable singing. So fkin' what?

Secondly, I still don't see how you can seriously argue that the guy wasn't making a comparison between christmas and gay rights, instead of social equality around the board. How about if he had said "black people can sit anywhere on the bus, but we can't celebrate christmas in school?" While it looks different because of our preconceived notions, the two comparisons ARE of the same nature. Rick Perry is appealing to a crowd that would go "Hell yea, if EVEN gays are allowed to serve in the military, then we should totally be allowed to celebrate christmas in schools," which isn't disallowed by the way.

People are just as free to celebrate christmas in schools as any of the other winter holidays. I am against all these euphemisms for christmas, though.... as if it needed a euphemism. Just because someone says merry christmas, it doesn't mean the jews are being left out. However, if the school gives out christmas cards, obviously there will be the jewish crowd who will go "what the fuck guys? Don't care about us?! IT"S NOT JUST CHRISTMAS YOU KNOW!" <---- Yes, we fucking know it's not just christmas.

But still, Rick Perry is a moron. While I don't think we should go changing every Christmas Tree into a Holiday Tree, Rick Perry is a biggot, and should not be president.

Christmas is so commercial nowadays, and it's used politically and shit...... I don't see why people are worked up anyway. The Holiday, as far as anything goes outside of your family (I'm assuming it still means something within families..... even if you're not Catholic, you can still celebrate christmas....... easily.........), cannot be saved by dickheads in nice suits on T.V running for president. And that's just what he is.... a dickhead.

Again, i think you are referring to the pledge of allegiance. The Anthem doesn't have "under god" in it.
