well most people were not very impressed by the amd bulldozer as its lacked performance for the power draw and altho the new sandy bridge is around the same power draw mark unload boy dose it kick the bulldozer ass.
The bulldozer FX-8150 could only churn put 13,700 ppd (points per day) but by comparison look at what the i7-3960X can pump out.
yes you are reading that right. Over 43,500 ppd. for the same power draw thats well over three times as much work. while it may not be the best cpu on power it sure dose a how lot of work per watt
i thought it was going to be good but i did not think it would be awesome. now it leaves amd with a lot of work for there next hand in the cpu market.
on the left is the sandy bridge i7 2600k and on the right we have th awesome sandy bridge extreme i7-3960X
the difference in side is easy to see and most people thought that the motherboards for the sandy bridge extreme (LGA2011) would support the first gen i series processors (LGA 1366) aswell but this is not the case. the only thing they do share is the Processor cooler fixings are the same altho the Sandy Bridge has threaded holes that go throw the motherboard so coolers wont fit unless the maker of your cooler brings out an upgrade kit (i know some brands have brought out an update kit and they are free if you can prove you paid for your cooler)
well its looking like another great job from the Sandy Bridge team
