Due to continuing industrial action by the unions the CEO of Qantas decided to ground the entire fleet and from 8pm Monday lock all employess out of workplaces. And stop paying them.
All overseas employess will still be paiand not locked out.
I have a friend who is a 747 pilot. Currently in Japan. Guess he's staying there for now, lol.
The idea is to force the government to intervene. Hope it works.
There were 2 reports of aircraft that had already left the gate and were taxiing, only to be told to return to the terminal and shut down. Planes in the air could complete their sectors, but once they were on the ground, that was it.
Currently, about 15,000 passengers stranded world wide.
