Main reason it runs like crap is mainly because you don't have the latest drivers!
For people with 64bit windows vista and 7 and a Nvidia graphics card : http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-285.38-beta-driver.html

Install your proper driver for your video card and watch your fps shoot up! I went from 35 fps on my old drivers (using 6950 video card) to over 50-60 fps out doors (ingame)
