BO server is here!

Why do we still have this server? Did we agree to a multiple-month contract or something? No one plays it. I really like the game, but unless we make a serious effort (a lot of people in the krew would have to be on the same page on this one), it's just not gonna get any action. It's been dead for a while. I haven't played in months and months and I'm still 10th place on the server.

So, if we kill it, we'd save money right?

If we got it going, that would be cool, too. I just don't see that happening.

We could also use it to test a new mod or something (instead of running an unused game).



So what's the story?

I think we should kill it unless we promote it a little better. Make room for another server, maybe gun game, and who knows, maybe even BF3.

Yea, I'd play the black ops server, once I got myself sorted out. Not on hc though

Don't do ffa either, as much as there is spawnkilling in ffa on broadcast, Black Ops is 100x worse.


I also think it would be a good server where we can just test out new mods and shit. We have successful cartoon, TDM, SnD, and FFA servers now. Nick is doin' the paintball thing. I think that will catch on if he keeps at it, which I think he will .

Maybe it would be nice, if we can't just stop paying for the BC2 server now, to use it for something worthwhile, like a test server or a blops server, as houston suggested. W/e we do, it shouldn't be leavin' it to rot.

On a side note: Houston, I think that server isn't game specific. We could run black ops on it, right? Or could we not?

This server is different, we aren't going to run cod4 on it. Also we are already getting the stupid paintball server.

I think we should scrap it too. A black ops server would be cool, or just shut it down completely.

yeah, it's dead. I stopped playing the game cuz I didn't have anyone else to camp there to get it going. I like the game.. a lot. BUT I too hate seeing it dead 99.99% of the time. I never really bothered with it since it's been pre-paid for 6 months. It ends next month or in early November (I forgot).

Changing it to say BO shouldn't be a problem because the price would stay the same though we'd get 6 more slots. I loved our Nuketown/DOM server! Though again, it was kinda hard to get people to camp 'til others joined.

Any who, does anyone know if we're able to run our own BO Wage Server? That would be dope!

PS. It doesn't matter what game it gets BO/bc2. If I have the time to play, I'll be more than happy to camp with others to get it going

PPS. bc2 server is a PITA to configure.

IMO there are way too many nuketown servers :l I think we should go with a hardcore server with medium sized maps

I think softcore tdm with a map rotation would be more successful. I know it would be more fun for me.

Hardcore sucks on blops. It just sucks. And you want to start a server, trying to get people on, when they get kicked after they accidentally kill their entire team with a killstreak? PFFFFT not gonna happen. That dude would just peace the fuck out, as would some of his team, probably. You just can't get the cod4 experience from black ops, and the Black Ops hardcore experience fucking sucks, so softcore is my vote IF we get a blops server.

Also, keep in mind both MW3 and BF3 are coming out. This server is the one that would be replaced by a server running one of those games, right?


And yea, there are already enough nuketown servers.

Looks like we'd have some takers on the BO server. Also, it could be a dead dead server. It could be nonexistent. That would be cheaper.

There are already good servers in bc2. I think it would be very hard to get ours going even if we were all dedicated. Black ops would be much easier to get a regular bunch of guys on. If you end up doing TDM, include nuketown in the rotation. People will join for Nuketown TDM, and will hopefully stick around when the map changes. Whatcha think? (this is obv. hypothetical)

And this server would probably be replaced for a BF3 server.

Rumor has it that MW3 wont be restricted to 1 GSP, so if the Linux server binaries come out, we'll have a few MW3 server running from our MW3 machine!

I kinda like it. Instead of RUN AND DIE AND RUN AND DIE you actually take the time, relax, be sneaky and get solid kills. I'm sick of the running and gun fps style. It's nice to have a change.
