So, I woke up yesterday quite sick. Coughing, sore throat, couldn't breathe to save my life etc etc. Check our medicine cabinet, and some how we don't have anything that will help. So I hop in the car, and drive the 2 minutes to Rite Aid. I grabbed some Dayquil, some Halls Breezers, and a 5 hour energy since I had to be at school from 12:30 til 7:00. Go to the counter, and for those of you who don't have this where you live... In California, when you buy a cough medicine, such as dyquil robitussin or anything of the sort, they input you're driver's license number or scan your I.D. to ensure that you don't buy it in bulk. Because cough syrups and medications (even in pill form apparently) are used in the production of Meth.

Well, she inputs my I.D. number, and my limit has been reached for medications. I look at her dumb struck because I've never had to buy cough medicine in my life, let alone having bought 4 containers of it recently. She tells me someone must be using my License number to buy cough medicine.

So, what would you do? I can't buy medications, which isn't such a big deal living at home but when I head to Davis I will be screwed.

In california, where the warehouse is for the company that my father works for, people are required to be paid overtime for anything over 8 or 16 (can't remember which) hours of work per week. This is due to some state laws or ordinances. How fucked up is that? Those guys get paid overtime for working anything over a day or two days time. Lazy, worthless fucks.

As for you, how on earth would someone have gotten your ID number? I feel like that kinda thing is hard to cancel..... unlike a credit card. That's what I'd do, though. Did you try any other stores?

wow, yeah well needless to say California is pretty messed up.

I have no idea how someone could have gotten my ID number or who could have to be honest. I haven't, I was on my way to school and had no time to stop by another store, so I had mom pick some up before she left work. But I will try to, I need some Nyquil.

Depending on what you have, I'd say get some theraflu. That shit is great! They make "night time" versions, too. Also, when I had pneumonia, i got this stuff called Tussin Cough, like robotussin I guess. It's just an expectorant and cough suppressant, but it really helped me..... The dayquil and nyquil are okay, but if you are just trying to treat cold symptoms at this point (and not a high fever), then do the theraflu. IDK if you've had it before, but you like mix it with hot water, and it tastes kinda like lemon or something... good for sore throats. Plus it's got the same kinda stuff in it as nyquil or dayquil. So like a fever reducer (usually acetaminophen), cough suppressant, and (in the case of the night times) decongestant.

Hope you feel better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! College sucks because you don't get to just have sick days! You miss too much!

I've never had theraflu but I will be getting some. No fever as of yet, thankfully. Will have to mix it with the hot water and hope it soothes the throat, been drinking some hot tea with honey and it's helped a bit, but it still sucks.

Thanks. Yeah it really does, I mean you can just not show up to class and most of your professors don't really care at all. However yes, you get behind very quickly. I'm glad today is my day off, and I only have one class tomorrow.

lol, if you don't have a fever, Ice cream is really good for sore throats. I had a fever and still ate some v.v because my throats was really sore. It made me very cold and I had to get fetal under the sheets again for a while -shakes head- .

Drink tea. Lots of it, along with the meds. Homemade tea: Water, cut some slices of lemon (not limes), dump them in a pot and let it boil. Pour it in a cup and add honey to your liking. Obviously you can skip the making of the homemade tea if you buy theraflu.

Here's some info about Identity Theft regarding the DMV. I don't think the DMV will ever change your ID # though.

Your best bet is to pull your credit. If you see accounts that you don't recognize, ask Experian, TransUnion and Equifax to put a stop. I forget what it's called but basically what it does is, every time ANYONE tries to run your credit, they will contact you via phone (if I remember correctly); it probably changed slightly now. And also start disputing those accounts with the 3 companies I mentioned.

File a police report so you can be on record of the change. If the police are helpful, you can ask them to see if you have any tickets/warrants issued under your name.

You may also want to try to contact the IRS to see if anyone is using your social security # for work related stuff.

This might of been just a fluke but we wont know 'til you either at least run your credit.

I know this doesn't help much but, I just wanted to say since I live in Texas and never had a problem like this, but I don't buy any kind of medicine much at all. But the rules in Cali are so fked up it's unreal, that's my opinion anyways

Move back to Florida! I don't really have anything against Cali but the state they are in is just fcked up crazy. Very high taxes, pensions going out of control, bankrupting yourselves.. could be just me. I know Texas ain't too much behind them but at least we're still creating jobs.. (even if they are min. wage jobs.) I would love to visit there but I'd never move there.
