So after getting four blue screens in seven days i got fed up and upgraded my Vista with the Windows 7 upgrade disc. Its home premium. Anyways, having never really used W7 before, id like to hear your tips and trick for making W7 kick ass! I know about aero shake, pinning to taskbar etc. but not much else lol.

Thanks!

I personally use a hamster wheel powered rock, and use crayons for the text. Somehow, the Caveman OS actually sends data over the World Wide Web, and can run COD pretty well.

Pull the top of a program to the top of the screen and watch as is magically fills your page.

1. Jump lists, right clicking on an icon in the taskbar gives you recently used files etc.
2. Snap, drag a window to either side or top to resize the window.
3. Peek, drag you mouse to the lower right corner (or press Win + spacebar) to preview widgets and desktop without minimizing any windows.

Some shortcuts:

Win + up arrow = make the window fullscreen
Win + down arrow = windowed or minimize
Win + left or right = move and resize window to either side of the screen
Win + M = minimize all windows
Left Shift + Win + M = restore windows
Win + F = Windows search

more coming up later…

Thanks. That fences looks cool but i have no icons on my desktop. I use objectdock and pin the others to the taskbar. Which btw isn't autohiding :raging:, ill have to reboot.

Can anyone tell me how to change my folder views? I've tried folder options and Googling it , but to no avail.

What i mean is, for example, i open my pictures folder and the display is in tile mode when i want it to be in list mode. I can change it once im there, but when i click back into it after closing, it's back in tile mode. Then say for example, i open a sub folder in the pictures folder, the pictures are in details mode when i want them to be large thumbnails. Any way to customize my views so they apply to all folders?

Thank you, that worked. Is there a way to customize it further, say have my sub picture folder display thumbs, but the main picture folder and my other folders display details?

I'm not sure because I like everything in details view.

But you may want to try this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-folder-options#section_3

From my understanding, if you apply the settings from my post above, it'll copy the settings onto other folders of the same nature.

You can also look at this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Change-folder-views-and-behavior

I can't try some of those settings since I'm at work at the moment. Hope that is what you're looking for though.

Ok, thanks Wally. It was and it wasn't. I don't think it's possible to get it exactly how i want it since my movies/tv/game folders have pictures in them, therefore display as thumbs.

Not to jack damage's thread, but should I pirate W7 to hold me over until my new rig?

I run dual boot with a pirated version of W7. Up until a couple days ago my main was Vista and my partition had W7 Ultimate on it. Still does, but no real reason to use it now. Anyways, i'd probably just use the pirated version with a registry spoof and save the 140 bux or w/e W7 cost.
