Hey guys,

I will be buying my new PC soon and I was wondering if I can get the windows from this laptop onto the new PC.

I cant just hook up my laptop HDD to my PC because I don't have the correct cables/plugs.

Thanks :)

Firstly, does your new PC even have an OS (Operating System) loaded?

You can't just use the installed OS from your lappie on your new PC. All the drivers would be wrong.

Even if you did hook up the HDD from the laptop to the new PC, I doubt it would even boot.

I know there's a feature called "Files and Settings transfer wizard" but I don't hink it transfers installed applications, just regional crap and whatever is in "my Documents", I think. I've never used it.

You need to install an OS on the new machine, then load all the drivers (mobo, video, network, sound), THEN transfer your files. And reinstall whatever programs (eg, COD, office programs, email, browsers, etc).

It's possible, but it would be ALOT more work than just installing a fresh copy of windows. Not to mention trying to bypass microsoft's built in security which blocks another computer from booting your install.
