I'm on hackintosh, meaning I run the Operating System that Apple uses but on my Dell XPS 410. I also have a MacBook Pro laptop(work loaner), I bought my wife a 13" white MacBook laptop, and if I didn't know how to build PC's, my next computer would be the 27" iMac. Ever since I've been tinkering with Apple's operating system on my PC I'm in love with it! I also have a jailbroken iPhone which beats mostly every phone out there, IMO.

A Mac, either it'd be a laptop or desktop, you'll be able to install any other operating system via Boot Camp or Parallels. Boot Camp is a program that will let you start off either on the Mac's OS or Windows OS. Parallels lets you run the Mac OS and Windows OS side by side. I use paralles the most on my PC. On my laptop, and my wife's laptop I use Boot Camp.

Keep in mind, just because you're able to install XP or whatever Windows OS, doesn't mean you'll be able to play Windows games on the Mac machine. The games are installable but not runable since the Windows games need Windows drivers. They make CoD4 for the Mac but it's only on Patches 1.5 and 1.7. Which by the way you don't need to buy the Mac version of it. Just find a source to download the Mac game and use your Windows keys; it works!

Everyone and their grandma's will tell you not to buy one because they're gonna say Mac sucks. They're probably right but once you get to play with it a bit, you'll be glad you made the jump. For me personally, I favor Mac just a tiny bit but I personally don't bash Windows for being gay or yada yada yada. I love them both and I'm glad I'm able to enjoy both of them.

I dont know anything about macs other than they are overpriced. What is your budget for a new PC? The best way to do it is build one yourself, which isn't very hard to do at all. If that's not an option for you give us your budget and im sure we can find you a nice new PC.

lmfaooo @pug

oh man macs...i worked with em before...just not me at all!!!
It's mainly for pictures, and music+video editing.
And that...is it. Nothing really else.

Windows has almost about the same features as a Mac, but you can sure as hell just keep changing a PC..a Mac..a bit more difficult.

An interesting concept.

I'm a tinkerer, and I'm still using WinXP. Mainly because I CBF rooting around with, and relearning to use, another Windows version on our network, let alone a whole new OS.

I did hear that there were some issues with networking XP and Vista (which I believe has been addressed with W7.

Networking PC and Mac? That would involve too much dicking around I'm sure. But then again, we have 5 networked machines, as well as a Media Player.

Having said that a lot of our colleagues use Macs for photo editing, and one of the resident geeks at work swear by them.

I still think for gamers, PC is the way to go.

Win7 being more secure over osx? Doubt it. I help the IT guy with minor stuff at work; 90% of the folks have Windows and the other 10% use Mac. For the past year that I've been there not one of the Macs have had any security issues. I've had to clean, re-image a ton of Windows based laptops and desktops because of stupid stuff that goes on in Windows. Just today I had to clean an XP laptop from malware. I know there are viruses out there for the Mac but people that want to do the most damage focus on the majority; Windows.

The games, software, etc Windows wins in that category cuz again, the folks that make them want the most money and Windows fits that market. I've been able to play CoD4 since patch 1.5 on my Mac so I'm quite content. Like I've said it before, osx just needed CoD4 and I'd be set.

Matter of fact I'm running Windows 7 on my Mac via Parallel. I can easily switch to XP if I want to get my full gaming on.

Don't knock osx just cuz of the price because lets face it, that's literally the only bad thing about it. Besides you don't have to pay to use osx. But sshhh, don't tell Apple ;)

I haven't had a virus/malware on Windows in years so I'm covered. I was just talking about a regular joe that doesn't know how to take care of their stuff, they'll have less of a chance to get stuff like that with a Mac.

I'm on a Hackintosh so I have the best of both worlds. ;D

I'm surprised i missed this.

Macs are sweet. I have two macbook pros, an iphone and iPad with some iPod floating around.
If you like high reliability in both hardware and software, you can't go wrong.

In 6 years of Mac experience and a lot of professional experience, i can tell you that Macs never need support while Windows systems always have problems and are more vulnerable to problems, malware, driver issues etc.

Try one.

In my household:

MacBook Pro (17") - work loaned
MacBook (13") - wife's lappy
iPhone 3GS - mine
iPhone 3G - wife's
Dell XPS 410 - mine

You ask my wife what would be our next purchase if I didn't know how to build a hackintosh and she'll tell you it'd be a 27" iMac. My wife loves Macs now. ;)

Once you try 'em, kinda hard to go back. Yes, there are tons of software for PC's but everything I need, the Mac has; except for MW2 :p

the main thing: faster. Looks the same between the two. I have the white and the wife has the black. My co-worker calls my iPhone a soap :p
